REMINDER: #Skiff users, don’t forget to migrate your email/files/calendars. It has already been over a month since Skiff announced they are sunsetting their services (after being acquired by Notion).

Services will go dark on 1 AUG 2024 (previously, there was no date.)

While Skiff has mentioned forwarding services will continue until 1 FEB 2025, there’s no guarantee after the services actually shut down.

It’s easier to migrate now when you still have a decent amount of runway left, versus postponing until closer to the shutdown date.

skiff’s update on its shut down status that indicates services will shutdown on 1 AUG 2024 and forwarding services will continue until 1 FEB 2025.

Skiff Privacy has been acquired, will be shutting down

Skiff @skiff has “joined” (read: been acquired) by Notion.

Skiff privacy is (was?) an #opensource and #privacy friendly product suite, featuring email, pages, drive and calendar.

According to their blog post and an email mirroring that blog post, Skiff will be “sunsetting” in the next 6 months. In plainspeak, in about 6 months (no definitive date as of writing this post) Skiff’s services will no longer work. Users will not be automatically migrated to Notion.

Users must migrate/download their data, including migrating skiff domains and redirecting emails. From what I currently understand, email aliases must be handled by hand - so the redirect only works for the primary address.

I will be pulling the recommendation for Skiff on Avoidthehack.com ASAP.

skiff.com do offer some extra business services e.g. domain name registration, more aliases etc. but also aiming at the crowd. They offer a style multiple words "verification" scheme

No doubt speculators will moan when the "free" account linked to their cryptocoins magically gets rug pulled.

Has anyone audited the github open source code to for weak Random seed the initial cryptographic key setup etc. ?

skiff.com End To End Encrypted email and Calendar and encrypted at rest but not so anonymous distributed document storage Drive (they advise use of VPN or Tor for this).

They use the insane with drug fuelled(?) false coloured image e.g. "Sunflowers" or "Pandas in a living room" so even if you are not visually impaired it is hard to pass. The very narrow greenish border when selecting an image tile is evil when the image is of a field of flowers
