Macron says Europe must become a "space power again" after SpaceX has already disrupted everything 🚀

Meanwhile, planning a space summit for 2026 to catch up. That's like calling a meeting about the horse after it's already in orbit 😸

@chad

Your empathy is exemplary.

But at what point do these rocket scientists realise their goal is not achievable (not at the stipulated weight and cost limits)?

Almost all of the engineers, scientists and researchers would have joined to be part of something ground-breaking, and amazing and not because of the paycheque. (Disclaimer: I knew one. "Hi Dave!" :)

And now all but the most naive are there for the money. Or because they enjoy blowing shit up on taxpayers dime

Ground Control to Major Anomaly (nine, eight, seven, six)
What's that countdown? Something's wrong (five, four, three, two)
What? Ignition? Oh my God, not a-fucking-gain! (one, rapid unscheduled disassembly)

"Initial analysis indicates the potential failure 💥 of a pressurized tank known as a #COPV, or composite overwrapped pressure vessel, containing gaseous nitrogen in Starship’s nosecone area, but the full data review is ongoing. There is no commonality between the COPVs used on #Starship and #SpaceX’s #Falcon rockets." spacex.com/updates/#starship-s
