I wish I knew which fake #bitcoin Exchange #Kitboga uses, cuz I'd rather try to make those #spammers suffer in it.
- But obviously, the first rule of #Spam is: NEVER REPLY!
My biggest political regret of all time is using Act Blue to make donations.
The endless text and email spam generated by that decision is literally unstoppable.
There's no universal opt out option available, and they claim zero responsibility for the actions of any entity that uses the data their platform provides to its users.
This should be illegal in all contexts, but data brokers are immune from all consequences.
Act Blue is a data broker, über alles
DO NOT USE THEM
Did the spam people just come back to work after winter vacation? I have received 5 spam/fraud phone calls today after having had none for a couple months.
Also shit dudes, that is a long-ass winter vacation. Just seems lazy.
#Spammers
I had an influx of #newmembers to my #instance overnight.
All were from #Romania & shared the same IP addy.
All used the same email server.
Suspicious much?
#admins check your new members to see if they’re legit or #spammers or #RussianBots.
@Erpel because the spammers are assholes?
I wished @Codeberg had some #AI #bot / #blocklist feature to flatout block #spammers and #bots cuz given the fact that #GitHub refuses to allow blocking #Copilot, this may be the straw to move the projects over there if I can't be assed to #SelfHost and merely abude GitHub as a #CDN!
Which I certainly would intent…
I've been getting this spam, twice a week now. It's sent via email, to the illumos.cafe domain, and clearly written by an LLM. What are they offering? A hand selling "my" software product - namely, the illumos operating system (!!!) - and maximizing the profit from it, claiming it's 'new, revolutionary, and AI-based'.
Congratulations, spammer. You're more ridiculous than when you guys used to offer me erectile dysfunction drugs twenty years ago.
I wish @michiganpublic.bsky.social wasn't being run by #SPAMMERS. Every few years since becoming a member the 1st time in ~2008 they have forgotten that I have explicitly requested to NOT be spammed, and so they send me #spam asking for money. Note that every month, they already get my money. 1/x
I constantly get autoreplies from support teams because some google group is sending mass support requests and apparently some emails were added to those lists without my consent. As I am not registered with those emails at google I have no way to manage or prevent this. It is so annoying. #spammers #googlegroups
Yo @signalapp @Mer__edith where can one report #scammers & #spammers using #Signal for their schemes (i.e. #catfishing)…
Every day around 3 PM, our land line gets a call from a number with "International Rescue" in the caller ID. They seem to use different numbers. It may actually be IRC, as SWMBO has given them money in the past, but I never answer.
I greatly appreciate the phone #spammers being easily identifiable. I wish that the ones raising funds for legit operations would work smarter...
it is incredibly hard to block call centres calling for someone else on my number whom I don't know because ACMA wants the business name of the caller and the product they are selling and the business selling the product - I keep telling the call centre wrong number and they keep ringing me over and over again and not deleting my number from that other person's name - very frustrating and annoying - the call centre keeps changing its number every call so I can't block them - there's got to be a better way to get customers than harassing half the population via call centres - it's always Indian call center operators - it's usually about cheaper power bills, ISPs, life insurance #callcentres #marketing #australia #wrongnumber #indian #spammers #coldcalling #ACMA #powerbills #isp #lifeinsurance
I used to use the Stop Spammers extension on WordPress to deal with spam. It was okay, but I realized it was buggy. (And no, I'm not reporting the bug. I'm too lazy for this shit, and it ain't my problem anymore.)
I switched to Antispam Bee and I find it much better than Stop Spammers ever was. I don't even see most of the spam it catches (unless I open up the Spam category on my instance) because the idiot spammers fill a hidden field that causes the extension to immediately decide that this is spam.
It appears that someone here in Massachusetts found my unused domain BostonSocial.online a tempting domain to use for spamming Massachusetts people. But because I have my unused domains protected from being spoofed, they failed.
Spoofers constantly try using all my domains. I guarantee it's happening with your domains. If your domains aren't protected from it, people are getting emails that appear to be coming from you.
Here's a report sent to me by one of the larger email providers (mail.ru) informing me of a spoof attempt. They tossed the email.
Only a very few larger email providers will provide notifications. I appreciate the notifications when I get them.
Protect your domains, unused or otherwise, from spammer takeover!
