After a long day of #hacking ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿ’ป, we organised a World Cafรฉ dynamic, where the participants exchanged thoughts on eight different topics proposed by other researchers or experts. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿผ

One of the group leaders, Daniel Klocke, proposed addressing technical challenges at the km-scale, while #nextGEMS Project Coordinator Heike Konow shared some lessons learned from project collaboration. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

This month we celebrate our two-year anniversary! It's a special occasion to recognize some accomplishments, such as our successful hackathon in Madrid โ€” and the two before that. ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ

We are now halfway in the project! We completed 3 cycles, improving the models and unfolding novel workflows that allowed more users to interact with model outputs.

Projects like #nextGEMS improve modeling performances in #ICON and #IFS, contributing to the development of #climatescience ๐ŸŒ

Exciting publication ๐Ÿ“ฃ!
#MPI_Scientist Yanmichel Morfa @_yanm@mastodon.social et al. studied the horizontal and vertical kinetic energy spectra and their relationships in global #StormResolving simulations from the DYAMOND experiments. His findings highlight the role of #GravityWaves in defining the magnitude of mesoscale vertical motions in the #atmosphere.
