Finished the massive doorstop novel that is Brandon Sanderson's #WindAndTruth yesterday. It's the final book of the first #StormlightArchive arc.

I enjoyed it; not sure how I feel about how he left Roshar at the end, but it certainly sets up a ton of action and drama in the Cosmere.

That's 1 book down on the summer reading list. 15 more to go. nuketown.com/summer-reading-li

With the weather warming, it's time to start stocking up on summer reads. I write an action/adventure series called 'Expedition Inc.’ featuring a team of adventurers for hire.

As a fun extra I try to ground the stories in real places like an island off the west coast of Canada and Denver International Airport :)

The image shows a person holding an e-reader displaying the cover of a book titled "Island of Secrets" by J. Beckett. The cover features a silhouette of a person holding a gun against a green background with a circular logo that reads "Expedition Inc." The person is reclining on a pink and white striped hammock, with their legs visible and wearing denim shorts. The background is blurred, suggesting an outdoor setting with natural light. The e-reader is black with a screen showing the book cover in clear detail.

Finished The Long Tomorrow by Leigh Brackett. I enjoyed it, and it's easy to see how other, later post-apocalyptic fiction was inspired by it.

Next up: Machine Vendetta (The Prefect Dreyfus Emergencies, Book 3) by Alastair Reynolds #SummerReadingList #FallReadingList #Novels #Books

So far, I've read 14 of 19 books on my #SummerReadingList, which isn't too bad considering how much time I spent playing #Hades instead of reading :)

My next print #novel is The Long Tomorrow by Leigh Brackett (hat tip to @grueproof for that one).

My current #audiobook, which I'm winding down, is Iain Bank's Surface Detail (the penultimate book in #TheCulture series. #summerreading

My Summer 2024 Reading List

My 2024 summer reading list. It’s not as long as I’d hoped it would be, but that’s part of the fun and satisfaction of reading and growing a personal library. Enjoy! 📚 #summerreading #summerreadinglist #summerreadinglist2024 #readinglist #booklover #booklove

I'm making steady progress on my #SummerReadingList

Just finished S.A. Barnes' Ghost Station, which is a creepy scifi horror novel set in an abandoned, extrasolar research station.

I've read 12 of the 19 books on my list and all three novellas.

Next up: Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah, which I haven't read since ... high school? Yeah, that sounds right.

After finishing the Silmarillion today, I will be moving on to a reread of the Poetic Edda. My take on the Silmarillion is that is equal parts brilliant and frustrating, but my understanding of LOTR has been substantially altered. As for the Poetic Edda, I haven't been through it since 2012.

A paperback copy of the Silmarillion. On the cover: against a black background can be seen two trees, a ship with a prow in the shape of a swan, a sky with stars, and a sun with a diamond shaped design inside.A paperback copy of the poetic edda. In gray monotone can be seen serpentine medieval knotwork carved into wood.

I finished "Action Park: Fast Times, Wild Rides, and the Untold Story of America's Most Dangerous Amusement Park" - it was a great read, I'd go so far as to say it's a must-read if you grew up in northwestern New Jersey in the 1980s or early 1990s. #SummerReading #SummerReadingList

Almost done rereading this; haven't opened it since the 90s and it holds up well with its satire of academia but also sincerity in dealing with an attraction/love that comes as a result of intellectual connections rather than merely physical.

In other words, it's Harlequin for sapiosexuals.

Halfway through the non-fiction book "Action Park: Fast Times, Wild Rides, and the Untold Story of America's Most Dangerous Amusement Park".

It's a great read, though it makes me realize I missed out on a lot of things at Action Park. Which, given how many ways there were to hurt yourself, was probably for the best.
