π Oh joy, another tech hipster's dream: a text expander written in Rust! Because why use existing solutions when you can rewrite the wheel in the trendiest language? π Meanwhile, on #GitHub, we're drowning in buzzwords, but hey, at least it's "cross-platform"! π

i used to use #TextExpander for this and a ton of other things i am still bitter about, but i abuse Keyboard settings for quick access to email addresses and symbols like emoji or unicode symbols i use often (Β΅βπ)
here's some of mine:
email addresses:
`eeaa` + `<abbreviation>` e.g.
eeaahh is `emory at hellyeah.com`
eeaaii is `emory at incumbent.org`, etc
`ty` thank you ππ»
some examples from my iPhone β these do sync across devices but only Writes no Delete afaict?

For those like me who want a an app to replace Text Expander on Mac, there is another app called Typinator. It's a really good and accessible alternative to Text Expander in my opinion. Text Expander is a really good app, but it's with a subscription. Personally, I don't see myself using it to the point where I have to pay monthly for the thing. Typinator on the other hand is a one time Purchase. You can create sets and create replacement rules in them, and also have the app ask you to fill some variables from the expanded template just like in Text Expander, in Typinator they show up one after the other. I've only tested the app to see if it's accessible for a few minutes, and it's really good so far. The main thing is that it's a one time buy and it also has a lot of features that Text Expander has. #Blind #Mac #MacApps #TextExpander #Typinator

I'm not very familiar with #Texpander, but I don't think it supports forms in the way #Espanso does, except for its own popup which appears to be required for each expansion. I may be mistaken, however.
The similarly named commercial product, #TextExpander, does support forms. Is that what you're thinking of?

Hey fellow #BlindMastodon users! I'm looking for recommendations on two types of writing tools for Windows:
1. Accessible text expanders
2. Word prediction software
I use both #JAWS and #NVDA screen readers. I tried Espanso (an open-source text expander), but it didn't work well with NVDA. I also tested Lightkey for word prediction, but it didn't seem accessible.
As an #ActuallyAutistic person, word prediction would really help with my autism-related communication challenges.
Have you found any text expanders or word prediction tools that work well with screen readers? What has your experience been like? I'd love to hear your recommendations and thoughts!

I'd been using #TextExpander but now have switched to #Espanso because it's open source & free.
Config is via YAML files, so I wouldn't recommend it for non-geeks.
Anyway, I was absolutely ASTOUNDED at how painless cancelling my TextExpander subscription was.
There's a "Cancel Subscription" button. You click it. It says "Subscription Cancelled"
That's it. I don't think I've EVER had a subscription cancellation that painless.
