So the other day I watched this video about electric trains and electric motors:

Now I feel soo much smarter about them :D

However!

It did not answer one really weird question I've had about electric motors for a good while. More specifically, about this:

What the fuck is that BRRRRZZZ noise as it sets off?!?! XD

I decided to throw this out here because I'm sure there are enough hyper-fixated train nerds and train furs here to educate my uninformed ass.

What I've figured out so far is that it's a Type DT-4 and that they make this noise while slowing down as well.
