was looking in the app store today and #twitterific was a featured app on the main "apps" page 🤔

Were you or someone you know a #Tweetbot or #Twitterific subscriber?

Then you may be entitled to compensation - but you shouldn’t take it. Instead you should go download the apps again from the App Store and tell the app you don’t want a Pro-Rated #Refund. These app developers had their livelihoods ripped away by the whims of a billionaire man-child.

It only takes a moment and it will help probably more than you know.

Musk is doing his best to kill two wonderful small companies. Tap “I Don’t Need a Refund” to help them survive.

Daring Fireball: Tweetbot and Twitterrific Face the Cliff >>> daringfireball.net/2023/03/twe

Twitter’s kneecapping of third-party clients didn’t just mean that their future revenue was gone — it meant revenue they’d already collected from App Store subscriptions [goes] back to customers in the form of prorated refunds...

Regarding the state of #Tweetbot and #Twitterific and the refund debacle. Short version: if you’ve already deleted them, redownload and choose to decline the refund so that they can keep making good software. For Tweetbot, there’s an addtional option to transfer the remaining subscription to #Ivory daringfireball.net/2023/03/twe

Just went and made sure to decline refunds from the remainder of my #Tweetbot sub. Double checked #Twitterific as well. Takes a just a few moments to do a good deed for deserving devs!

I wasn’t really a birdsite user, but if you were, and have a subscription to either #tweetbot or #twitterific, you should read this article by @gruber

@gruber thanks, this is an especially important message to get out, especially the bits about actively saying you don't need a refund.

Would you consider adding a hashtag or two so Mastodon's search would turn it up later? Maybe #twitterific and #tweetbot?

“The only thing Musk has successfully done with Twitter is twist it into a company in his own mold, utterly devoid of the most essential of human qualities: honesty, grace, and empathy”
(@gruber)

If you still have a live sub for or reinstall these apps and tap that ‘I don’t need a refund’ button.

I wish all the best to @tapbots and @Iconfactory in this shite situation that has created.

Long story short: If you’re a subscriber to either Tweetbot or Twitterrific, you can help them out with three simple steps . . .

If you were a #TweetBot or #Twitterific user until Musk nuked them, please read and boost this: a pair of small, dedicated companies are facing an extinction level event due to Space Karen’s capriciousness, and you can help them just by tapping a few buttons and spending no money that you hadn’t already budgeted to spend. daringfireball.net/2023/03/twe

If you used #Tweetbot or #Twitterific to access #Twitter, please consider rejecting the prorated refund for your subscription, which is due due to Twitter’s heartless ineptitude. In aggregate this amount of money is likely existential for those companies. And it’s simply unfair.

@drewharwell I was going back and forth between #birdsite and here until they cut the api and I couldn't use #twitterific - years ago I left the main app because it was trash, I couldn't see it being any better now, and so that was the end. A couple of times I've gone to the website to see what I'm missing, and the answer is nothing. I'm happier here. It reminds me of when I cut the cord for cable TV - for a while I was addicted to some old shows I would watch in hotels when travelling, and gradually they disappeared and I didn't care any more.

Ok, I’ve been using @MonaApp for a few hours on both Mac and iPad. At the moment I’m hooked. This is the closest to my #twitterific experience I’ve had since coming to Mastodon.

Timeline synchronization between the two via iCloud works well and the number of unread posts seems to be updated correctly.

Making things a bit larger for my older eyes was painless and I can mute right from the timeline.
