I’ve never actually introduced myself! I’m Martin Meyer. I live in Western Pennsylvania and just graduated high school as a junior yesterday from Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School (PALCS) and The Center for Performing and Fine Arts. This fall I will be attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania, dual majoring in Music BA (violin) and Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management BS while also minoring in organ.
I started weaving in 2015 after being inspired by many demonstrations at local historical society’s like Compass Inn and Old Bedford Village. In 2019 I joined the Loyalhannon Spinners. With the Loyalhannon Spinners I have demonstrated at many events including the Westmoreland County Fair, the Derry Ag fair, Hanna’s Town, and the Fayette County Fiber Festival. I enjoy weaving a wide variety of items including scarves, table linens, and blankets. I especially enjoy using Tencel and wool.
In spring of 2023 I began consigning my work at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art. I also participate in their Summer Artisan Market and Holiday Mart. Two great events for local artisans. My work is also for sale online on my website.
Outside of weaving, I enjoy violin, photography, kayaking, and being outside in nature. Check out MJMeyerarts for my other artistic pursuits.
A big thank you to Studio MPOD for these great portraits!
