The Robroyston Wallace Monument in the north east of Glasgow. Erected in 1900, it purportedly marks the location of the house where William Wallace, hero of the Battle of Stirling Bridge and Guardian of Scotland, was betrayed and captured 720 years ago on the 5th of August 1305. He was then transported to England, where he was hung, drawn and quartered on the 23rd of August.

Wallace's Well in Robroyston in the northeast of Glasgow. It's named after William Wallace who is said to have drunk from it shortly before he was betrayed and captured by English soldiers in 1305. From here, he was taken to Dumbarton Castle, and then to London by ship where he was hung drawn and quartered.

reading #rebel - the braveheart chronicles by #JackWhyte about #WilliamWallace and the subjugation of #scotland by #EnglishKings and #ScottishElites for centuries & as far as I can see, to this day.
#GifsArtidote: one of my biggest passions is history, to learn its lessons. it's high time we learn from our past & accept globalisation is our current reality, abeit not in a capitalist sense though. we are a global human family, the planet is our boundary for our life in the universe & our survival depends on how well we live in harmony with nature & each other. those are the facts.
our collective development and survival should be paramount at all times over certain groups or individuals' interests. each individual has responsibility to honour this collective goal by learning as much as possible with the tools they've been given, each to their ability, and educating as many others with it as possible, whilst enjoying the process, don't forget.
that's one lesson i take from this book.

#GifsArtidote: one of my biggest passions is history, to learn its lessons. it's high time we learn from these 800 yr old events & organise the world in a horizontal, non-hierarchical way without borders, but with respect for each person's identity & culture. be the change.

MI PERSONAJE DE LIBRO Y PELICULA «william wallace»

University of St. Andrews: Historic manuscript available to the public for first time in 500 years. “The St Andrews Chronicles is a startling manuscript. It is largely a handwritten copy of John Mair’s History of Greater Britain – one of the most influential and innovative histories of Scotland and England of the sixteenth century. It also contains an earlier hand-copied pamphlet, […]
