My next book comes out on December 17. This was another minimal-computer book. My tools were a typewriter, a photocopier, a paper cutter, and a scoring machine. Each copy is signed by me.

Through the Lens of Gratitude: Giving Thanks in Colorado.

This is what I made for .

I wrote about it in this blog post: nantucketlit.com/gratitude

Twenty-six saddle-stitch books lined up on a table.

I did more tech/Bluetooth/AirPlay experimentation.
Thanks to all the project docs, man-pages and Alpine Wiki, for making this possible without external tools.

⬅️I am capable of writing daily around a thousand words. My main issue with the writing. Making decisions what gets into the text, and decide which road I want to follow.
I need to split the draft in the future making every chapter its own draft because I otherwise loose the oversight over the document.

Keep correcting stuff apart from writing, if you see a typo while typing fix it but do not fix older mistakes spontaneously in large quantities because it draws me away from writing.

Regardless of the word count I feel fine upping my last years output by 50% (or even 100%).
I need to stay focused on regular writing but make space for palette cleansing other creative outlets, like brick building, painting, or stuff in RPGs or video games that allow to create more than a story in my head.

TLDR: target not archived but still a massive win.

So the results of my writing month are here.
The goal was to get 30.000 words done. I knew this was ambitious so I settled it as a soft goal. Meaning it's okay to not reach it.

The finale word count done in November are 15.365. so yes I missed the mark by getting only half the output I wanted. However I also rewrote some parts in more details and deleted s lot of edit notes that are scattered around the draft.
Which decreased the over all word count (I simply took the words from the file and subtracted what I had at the beginning of the month).

So I guess the real value is somewhere closer to 20.000 words.
That said in both cases I reached higher counts as last year where I barely reached the target of 10.000 in my first writing month ever.
And I learned something about my self on the line.
I work best around midnight and sitting in my swinging/hanging chair.
Dialogue is super easy at first but hard later on ➡️

#WritingMonth is over! I didn't manage to reach my goal, but I still wrote a whole lot more than I would have without the challenge! I hella fell off the moment my time of the month hit LOL.

Final word count is 20,966/30,000 words. Didn't get to update it on the website in time though because I wrote until midnight 😆😆

Soon I'll be editing all these words I plopped onto the page :blobaww: It was nice to finish a few fanfic WIP drafts I had sitting around!

#WritersCoffeeClub 30 Share some good things about how your work went this month!

It was great: I have all of the major scenes involving magic roughed out, including some things that surprised me and an unexpected character, and a lot of the politics.

At this point I have the armature for the front half of the book, and for the back half, and I think I know how the bridge between them needs to work: there was a chapter that did not want to be written earlier.

#ScribesAndMakers 30 How did your creativity go this month?

Very well. I set a goal of averaging 1000 additional words/day on volume 3, and succeeded, taking the text from 79217 words to 109222.

The book is not done: there is a chapter that needs to move to a later volume, and stuff that's missing and stuff that's told that should be shown, but I have the main scaffolding, more or less end to end, and most of the key scenes, which is what I was hoping for.

I only got one post out and another drafted of my goal of five posts for #WritingMonth. It turns out I usually write at night and that has gotten exceptionally difficult since trying to go to bed shortly after the baby so I actually get some sleep.

Well I failed to reach my November #WritingMonth goal. Maybe try again next month? I would like to get better at carving out times and spaces to write even with a barnacle child stuck to me at all times.

After all, it's not like having written a couple hundred words is ever a bad thing, no? Celebrate what you've written! Then make plans for how to continue it. Feels like a good time for a reminder that #WritingMonth is coded to work great in any month, not just November. Myself and a number of others use it year-round to track regular writing goals.

Last day of November #WritingMonth!

No matter what your progress is so far, I challenge you to write something today. 100 words, say. A couple paragraphs, maybe.

That way this month has been a net positive for you even if you didn't meet your original goals.

2025-11-30

How's everyone doing on their #writingMonth journey?

It's the last day, I hope you're happy with your progress! I missed my goal by far, but I'm still sitting down to celebrate the end of November 🍹

2025-11-30

It's the last day of November, so I figured it is time for a WritingMonth summary: I wrote 3,900/2,048 words I planned to write for my blog this month.
(I normally base my goal on the amount of time I expect to have, i.e. holidays)

I also started working on a short story, for which I wrote 2,400 words. There is still a lot to do, but I'm not really motivated to work on it right now - so you'll probably have to wait for it a little bit.

I'm currently trying to decide on a writing goal for December, according to my normal goal-system I'd plan 3,073 words, but given that I'll have to start working on gifts, I'm not sure if I can actually manage it.
I do however have a couple of posts lined up, which I would really love to get out before 2026, to make room for new projects.

You might also want to keep your eyes out for a Precious Blocks update, which should hopefully be done by Christmas.
Afterwards, I plan on taking another break from the project, not sure how long it will last, but I have a lot of ideas for future revisions and features.

Uhhh - my first ever crochet post is out now.
And there is hope for more.

Let me introduce you to: Tiny Flowerpots, the series where we'll crochet multiple adorable little plants and add them to our crochet planters.

The first part is entirely dedicated to making a round flowerpot.
And the future posts will focus on making plants to put "in" the pots.

(I'll hopefully get the first plant-post out this week; but no promises 🙈)

#writingMonth I did it! 🎉

It is a screenshot of an Obsidian folder in yellow, named “text.” Beneath the title is printed the word count, which is 100.041 words. Yay!

30. How did your creativity go this month?
and
30. Share some good things about how your work went this month!

Writing: It went surprisingly well. I did the #WritingMonth with 50K and ended the draft with 57K words, and it's pretty horrible, but not completely so. I'm glad I didn't finish editing no. 1 yet, there's a lot of new stuff from the pantsing. I consider writing no. 3, which should have the conclusion, before I finish editing anything to get a bit of foreshadowing in, and to get the arcs straightened out.

30.11.2025
Overall word count 48.846 session one. Hopefully I get a second session in.

Last chance today to get closer to my goal of 30.000 additional words... Currently the month has a plus of 14.429 words.

I also deleted some editnotes that are currently sitting in between.

Last year my goal sat at 10.000 words. What really took me out of the regulary daily writing was having to visit the ER and end of month my focus drifting entirely away from writing. Well the day is not over. We will see this evening if I managed to get a second session done.

Edit 3 49.782 ober all but I start do fall asleep
Will ad the number later today good night...
