Proton and the existence of the Steam Deck as a hardware target have done wonders for PC gaming on Linux.
i do fully expect the Steam Frame next year to outdo it for me, though
i am beyond hyped to get back into VR gaming, plus playing non-VR games (or video/movie-watching) on any size virtual screen sounds fun
nearing the 1-year anniversary of when I got my Steam Deck OLED (bought it Christmas day 2024, don't remember exactly when it arrived tho)
definitely been my favorite tech/gaming purchase in recent memory

Someone takes a photo and posts it online. They didn't photoshop something crazy into it, they didn't add any text, they didn't juxtapose it with another image to make a point. It's not a gif or screenshot or a piece of stock photography. It's just a photo they took.
That photo is not a "meme." Even if it's clever. Even if it's funny. It's their work.

I like that Firefox is (through @jaffathecake) communicating. But the point is not really if you can disable the features TBH.
I think the problem is how Firefox/Mozilla is perceived: Putting a whole lot of resources into AI gambles (that the community does not seem to be too thrilled about to say the least) while seemingly losing all focus on the Open Web as something to work on, strengthen and defend. Especially with Google/Chrome's dominance.
The new CEO coming in and just hammering "AI" while never talking about how exactly those systems can only exist by harming the open web is a bad sign.
It's not so much about distrust of the engineers working on Firefox and them adding a switch or not. It's about a communicated vision that seemingly pushes aside all the things people want Firefox to exist for.
