To me the interesting thing here is the confirmation that Twitter never drove much traffic to news/other sites; people were content to just consume headlines/commentary there. That’s appalling information hygiene, especially since Twitter (and any social media site) is prone to social engineering. We need to aggressively champion the idea that one should seek out news/information at their original (and verifiably competent) sources and sites.

Is there someone you enjoy following, but you want to slightly reduce their presence on your timeline? There are a couple of ways to do this on Mastodon:

- If they share too many posts from other people, you can hide their boosts by going to their profile, clicking ︙ and then "Hide boosts".

- You can mute their own posts for a specific period, select a duration when muting them (it can be from 5 mins to 7 days).

My 13 year old daughter is trying to raise some funds to pay for own ice skating birthday party and Etsy banned our attempts to setup a store (even with my wife’s credentials - don’t get it) so we posted on TradeMe. But seems TradeMe isn’t the easiest to sell #handmade #crafts and #crochet as she’s had zero views.
