A special shout-out to the amazing seminar by my former PhD student and collaborator Dr @ChrystalaPsathiti on school buildings in Cyprus and how their spatial design relates to teacher control, feelings of belonging and community, and adolescent perceptions

New paper alert! @ChrystalaPsathiti and I argue in our paper in the Journal of Architecture published today that adolescents' positive perceptions of school depend (among other things) on the school layout and levels of visibility from the classroom, which enables a greater sense of belonging to the school community

New publication, led by my brilliant co-author Michal Gath-Morad on the role of strategic visibility for wayfinding behaviour in multi-level buildings, published in Nature Scientific Reports

One of the figures from the paper showing a 3D representation of collective paths taken in wayfinding tasks (visualised as purple-coloured lines with blue, turquoise and green colours showing higher density of overlapping paths). Three panels are shown: paths in the original building on the left, paths in the same building with atria (middle panel) and in the same building with glass around the staircase (right panel)

Plenary No.4: "Architecture meets Sociology – re-imagining users from two disciplinary perspectives" at the 14th Space Syntax Symposium

@kerstinsailer will diversify what we mean by space usage behaviours in space syntax, while Dr Daryl Martin's talk will emphasize on how sociologists could learn from Architects.

It was a very proud moment to present alongside two of my 'doctoral children' (how do you call your graduates? In German we call supervisors 'Doctoral mother / father' so I tend to think of my graduates as 'intellectual children').
It was such a pleasure to see @ChrystalaPsathiti and Zaky Fouad shine! 💪 🦸‍♀️ 🦸 ✨
