Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! Have some off schedule art!
I've always thought it gets a bit hot here in Australia for reindeer to be pulling Santa around, even in the middle of the night, so maybe it's time Father Christmas hired some local helpers! I propose a team of brushtail possums!
A possum probably won't be able to pull a sleigh, true, but anyone who's lived where Aussie possums live can confirm, when they land on your roof they sound A LOT like a herd of reindeer! They're no strangers to getting inside of places they shouldn't be in either, and it's a lot easier to carry gifts when you have your own built-in pouch! With a bit of Christmas magic to help, they're the perfect delivery team to help cut down Santa's workload! Just make sure to leave them some treats, or else your Christmas lunch might get taken instead!

I've been toying with the idea of making my wheelchair basketball comic in 3D instead of 2D like Voidstar. Part of it is just because I already have a lot of 3D assets built already, but also because I think having different comics in different styles might prevent some of the issues I tend to run into with burnout. So I made this sculpt of Avery, one of the main characters as a kind of quick test. I'm honestly not sold either way, but as an early concept sculpt, I honestly kind of like it.

The big test will be how frustrated I get with the rigging though 😂

Dan is the final character out of the main 6 that was left to design from my wheelchair basketball comic Juggernauts. Honestly, I'm not super thrilled with his look, I might need to revise it later.

Anyway, Dan is a dingo, though his personality would be better described as "golden retriever". he's sociable, friendly and optimistic, often to a fault. He has good intentions and wants desperately to uplift those around him but struggles to recognise his own boundaries when doing so or recognising when things are, in fact, not all good. This, combined with his relatively low-impact disability, the fact he is relatively new to disability spaces and fairly inexperienced with how disability and disabled sports are seen by the general public, means that he can be prone to missing some... important nuance. Basically, I'm planning on using Dan to explore how inspiration porn is used in disabled sporting circles, and the harm it can do to both individuals and the community as a whole, even when there are good intentions behind it.

Sam is the captain and coach of the team in my wheelchair basketball comic, Juggernauts. Usually, coaches and team staff aren't supposed to play, but in a lot of wheelchair sports, especially in social leagues that include regional teams, it can be a lot harder to get the numbers to actually make a team with all the usual staff. So it's pretty common to see people who are both player and staff, at least where I live, and where this comic is set (or teams with no formal staff at all).
Sam is an incomplete quadriplegic, and a multi-time paralympic medallist in both wheelchair basketball and rugby. Eventually, after a long and successful sporting career, she decided to retire from sport and move out into the country with her husband Kev (who I've already drawn). Eventually though, she grew restless and decided she wanted to take up coaching and started her own team to help teach one of the sports she loved to the next generation of players.
I'm still working out her actual personality at this stage, I'm thinking in her younger years she was probably a bit of a no-nonsense type that's mellowed a bit with age.

Fun fact: The Tasmanian Devil is the mascot for Australian Women's National Development Team, The Devils.

Jay is the youngest of the 6 main characters in my wheelchair basketball comic, Juggernauts, and the one who I think was the hardest to design haha. Balancing all those highly saturated colours was not easy 😂.
He's an extremely shy 16 year old rainbow lorikeet who grew up with extremely overprotective parents. His parents insisted on speaking for (and often over) him, resulting in him not really developing much in the way of social skills or independence. Basketball has been one of the few places where they've given him space, since they are long-time friends of the coach, and being on the team has done wonders for him on this front, though he still has a long way to go, and is often very quiet around new people.

This angry dragon is none other than Prince Zarius, the older brother of Ashfin.

He’s the eldest living child, though the third to be born. As the oldest, he carries responsibilities that Ashfin can’t understand, like the fact that if anything happens to their father, Zarius will become king. Ashfin is just the spare, and Zarius has no plans of dying anytime soon.

Zarius must learn how to fight, master war strategies, and accept the fact that there'll always be someone beneath him willing to kill for the throne. Being a prince isn’t easy, but it’s the one he was born into. If only Ashfin could stop screwing up, maybe things wouldn’t be so difficult.

I've been struggling hard to focus on my usual projects, so I guess that means it's time for my yearly TLoS hyperfixation lol.

Earlier this week I discovered the emulator I use for PS2 game can take "3D screenshots" which is an absolute dream find for reference material! With that, I decided to try some 2D animation using the TLoS models as reference specifically, I wanted to try reanimating Cynder's Goodbye Scene (with some alterations).
So I don't disappear for the next few weeks though, I thought I'd share the WIPs. This is just the blocking/sketch phase, I'll do stuff like add lip movement later. I'm planning to do the rest of the scene, but we'll see if my focus lasts that long lol. this is what I've got so far, feedback is welcome

Merry (any pronouns) is an NPC in the pathfinder 2e game my partner is GMing right now. She was supposed to be a one-off joke character who didn't realise they'd joined up with a cult of vampires and been turned. Instead they got adopted by the party, who are all witches, and became a witch alongside one of the other characters so he didn't get scared when making his first deal with his patron.

Another Dragon's Reign Character! This grouch is Zarius, Ashfin's older brother and one of the minor antagonists for the book. Saying he and Ashfin have a bad relationship would be... an understatement, to say the least lol. That doesn't stop their father from making him responsible for babysitting Ashfin during an important mission though, much to Zarius's annoyance.
I imagine he's currently glowering at Ashfin who's "obnoxiously" marvelling at something, just off-screen.

I love this little goober. He's changed a lot since I last drew him (both in appearance and personality) and I'm so excited to see his story be so close to release! I decided to do a portrait for him, since his official one was done before the last batch of edits, and his appearance ended up changing a bit.

Panel 3: Dante starts looking sickly, and his face flushes slightly green as he looks like he's trying to hold back puke. Nix, shocked notices mid-sentence and says "And the rib...cage...? Whoa, you ok?" to which dante answers "Ye-yeah I'm Fi-fine. It's just... you keep talking about... bones and stuff, and I'm a bit... squeamish" Panel 4: Nix smiles as dante begins looking even greener around his snout and eyes. Nix says "Dante... you have a skull for a face." to which he replies "Yeah, that's different, that's outside! All those... scapulas and ulnas are inside with all the gross stuff.... Thinking about it makes me queezy...". "outside" and "inside" are both written in bold and italic font to make them stand out more and have more emphasis.

Luren and Hinzel a pair of siblings in my partner's book that's about to release, Dragon's Reign The Lost Society, who's relationship is... strained, to say the least. whether or not they (mainly Hinzel) are willing to work through it though remains to be seen...
