Interesting and challenging at the same time. I was reading about #learning in a paper on #gametheorymodels and felt “what? Is this about learning at all?” Pause to remain open minded and compare different #learningtheories As such, adversarial collaborations could help to remain a #lifelonglearner myself. nature.com/articles/d41586-025

is our secret weapon to deal with complexity and ambiguity. In the book Future Perfect, Steven B. Johnson discusses the work of Scott E. Page who states that, “Diversity trumps ability”.

Diversity is how we can become collectively smarter.

Now you know why the fascists are axing initiatives. It's harder to control smart groups of people.

Why are educational myths so sticky?

Because they:
🦄 feel intuitive
🦄 promise one-size-fits-all solutions
🦄 offer quick & easy fixes

But learning is complex. Teaching, too.
So let’s stop chasing unicorns. They don't exist.

What’s one myth in education you used to believe—but no longer do?

«This moment calls out for moral clarity and resolve. It asks universities to take their mission in society seriously and to resist being co-opted by government forces»

I fear academic institutions have been run like businesses for long enough to have eroded all sense of a „mission in society“ beyond making a buck or two…

@pheasant_plucker @kdnyhan it works great, thanks a lot! SocNetViz, good to know

2025-03-17

@pheasant_plucker @kdnyhan yes, thanks, I was hoping that the visuals at least help a bit. And when analysing outside VOSviewer, can you export to a file that is readable in R? Or other, easier, recommendations?

2025-03-04

@kdnyhan yes, I am aware of the course but just a bit too far from core of my work but tempting. Will you take part?

2025-03-03

@kdnyhan I was hoping to see some responses here. I’ve been playing around with #VOSviewer. Technology is great and I sense the opportunities but still do not manage to interpret the visuals well. Good examples, not júst nice colourings, are appreciated.

Social networks can provide inspiration but requires the resolve to solve problems. This means the integration of & working. Flipping from learning to working is a continuous process on a daily basis. We have to feed our curiosity, support learning in community, and resolve to solve our problems together ...

As the admin of #AkademieNL I could really use some help covering the increasing costs.

Only a few months of runway left, after which the implication becomes I cover it out of pocket.

Regular small donations are greatly appreciated

“Life is long if you know how to use it.” -Seneca

On helping students make time for professional development, even when it is busy- and practicing what you preach. On graduation, veterinarians (and the rest of us) are never "done" with work; there is *always* more work to do. Which is why it is so important to gain skills in carving out time for professional development, especially when you don't have time.

My city has an event where people could color in a drawing of the cathedral tower and send in the coloring, and now they are projecting them on to the tower. It is fantastic.

Happy day, whatever you celebrate. And for the northern hemisphere, more daylight hours are on the way 😶‍🌫️
