On jan 19, I will be giving a @merckgroup seminar on "Self-Assembly and Study of Single Nanoparticles and Molecules" in which I will discuss the synthesis and self assembly of single nanoparticle catalysts and molecular systems. Here is the link:

#chemists #chemistry community. 🤔Hi all, there has been some posts about #rscposter. And where it takes place (a superb virtual event in Feb 23). I cannot speak on behalf of #RoySocChem. I can take your thoughts back to CEO Helen. Can you please favourite/boost/comment to let me know the community views . It helps to hear from our membership. I am the Treasurer of Royal Society of Chemistry and want to support your views by feeding them back. 🤗
The Get Real Movement also have some fantastic merch. 🫶🌈
This year the #RoyalSociety awards recognise that the best science is done by teams. If you know awesome educators, researchers or communicators, consider nominating them (individuals OR collaborations) for an award/honour. The deadline to apply is 24/02/23: https://royalsociety.org/grants-schemes-awards/awards/nominations/ #ScienceMastodon #AcademicMastodon
For me at least, getting onto @Mastodon and appreciating the structure of the platform and the tone of conversation has made these other pop-up social networks (Twitter replacements) totally unattractive. No, I don’t want to move up on a wait list by “referring 5 friends”; no, I don’t want to be part of another Jack Dorsey project; no, I don’t want to be part of something with weird completely top-down control. Mastodon broke me for other platforms.
End-of-the-year lunch with the group. Celebrating the good times. Wishing everyone a very happy holiday! 🤶🎄
Legit science journals are disappearing from the internet. Will Wiley, Springer, Elsevier, ACS exist in 100 years? Do they have policies to prevent the loss of papers?

Thanks to @Vetenskapsradet, I have an available #PhD position. The project will involve metal-cyanides, crystallography and some combination of local structure/magnetism/high-pressure.

@FMarquardtGroup i fully agree. But Also good insight that supercomputer work is not a free ride! All insights cost something!
@FMarquardtGroup maybe start doing experimental work instead? Or more analytical methods for the computational work?
Going to start making a conscious effort to (perhaps gradually) switch over here from Twitter. Inaugural post:
Happy Fluorescence Friday to all who celebrate
Tom Gauld taking a break from science to beautifully interpret Kierkegaard
@jesswade i am not surprised, but for experimental works - some infrastructure and organization is needed - giving people in larger groups an advantage.

An Incredible Day In Internet History
It started with the Twitter lockout. 10,000 new users per hour. A QUARTER MILLION people migrated to Mastodon in one day. The servers struggled. Remarkably, admins all over the world built up capacity in real time. New users were patient. The system held.
It's running better now. There will be more hard days ahead, but people powered social media has arrived.
It is friday, and I am looking forward to weekend, but also next week, where I will visit a company in Milan together with Helen Hölzel and Zhihang Wang
and also giving a seminar at
