In tech years, I'm pretty old. I started using Linux when it was easiest to get as a boot image and root image on the Banjo FTP server, maybe ftp.funet.fi. Later, SLS, then Slackware, then FreeBSD, OpenBSD (co-wrote the IP Filter howto)... then #RedHat bought my company. I've subsequently spent more than half my life working at RH, and most of that time running Fedora, since Fedora was a thing. This is not impressive, I've just been here, and that means I have some perspective on #opensource.

@ljo I have discovered/listening to one of The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) cassettes lately :)

@ljo oh recycling warehouses that's a good tip, thanks :) the boombox I inherit also records and it even allows for faster record (software cassettes ) it's a beauty. I already have my eyes fixated to a proper table deck from a relative but hard to keep justifying bringing stuff home (so my wife tells me)

@sustainrelease yup I have seen that :) that's what made me buy some of these. Flea markets are great but I have had better luck asking around and visiting people's garages/attics. And yes that's a cute present idea <3

@sustainrelease they look interesting! I'm more of a common listener (not really audiophile or collector). Not sure why but somehow I'm back at using them. I guess.. for the main old reason of loving their portability. But.. probably the new trigger was the absence of screen interaction.

So, I ended up trying to find my old Walkman..no luck, found another, fixed 2 and now have 3 old working relics plus my in-law's Sharp boombox :D
