@fdlamotte that would be cool yeah, more vibrancy!!!
if you're comfortable with the licensing you could totally submit it to our artwork repo and it would be included in the postmarketos-wallpapers-extra package :3
it's a really awesome piece of art
oh boy i have like a day to prepare a technical talk this is gonna be fun, kinda excited to tell the whacky story of what i've been working on for the last 10 months but i am terrified of it not being entertaining
@fdlamotte whoa awesome wallpaper! did you make it?

Support for Windows 10 ends on October 14, 2025. Microsoft wants you to buy a new computer. But what if you could make your current one fast and secure again?

Heads up on recent mesa upgrades in postmarketOS edge:
* Due to changes in the drivers for the Mali GPUs in Mediatek SoCs like MT8183, the recent update to Mesa 25 causes graphical display issues on Mediatek SoCs. A workaround is in preparation: https://postmarketos.org/edge/2025/05/05/Graphical-issue-with-Mesa-25-on-Mediatek-SoCs/
* The qcom/adreno bug that caused GTK4 apps to fail to start with the new GTK4 rendering backend has been fixed in the latest patch release! Related workaround will be removed once it is in flatpak: https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/6472
I've done a series that adds support for AF_UNIX sockets in coredumps. Userspace provides an AF_UNIX socket path via core_pattern and the kernel connects to it, shuts down the read side and writes the coredump to the socket.
This means no more super privileged usermode helper upcalls and makes for a very nice API experience. I captured coredumps simply via socat:
https://lore.kernel.org/20250430-work-coredump-socket-v1-0-2faf027dbb47@kernel.org
The receiver can use SO_PEERPIDFD to get a stable handle on the crashed process.
Remember, be polite but make clear how much these dangerous ideological moves will affect you or the trans people you know and/or work with. For allies, you may not know how to tackle all the details but concentrate on what you see and know. And please… for allies who’ve asked what they can do, THIS IS IT.
And PS, writing an actual letter may be a forgotten art you haven’t practiced in years — it takes longer and more thought than an email or filling a web form — but that’s why it’s fun.
I'm not saying a small flock of Valais Blacknose sheep would solve all my problems, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.
oh my S41 turned into an S85 and is taking me back to the station i started at. Thanks BVG
@beka_valentine werent there services you could call that would fax you information? yellow-pages style or like, shopping for a new printer or something (they would fax you a list of printers and specs)

potato potahto? these things go hand in hand and through an anti-capitalist lens they are really one and the same
it's no use having an alternative os if it doesn't provide good alternatives to google services imo, but we can't build those alternatives without having said os and devices to run it on (that people can get their hands on).
assigning relative value to one or the other while the world burns feels like a waste of energy to me

If you've got a (supported, unless you want even more tinkering) device hiding away in a drawer, postmarketOS is well worth a try.
A fun project for a bank holiday weekend afternoon, perhaps?
This particular blogpost documents how I got it installed, as I didn't find the wiki instructions particularly straightforward. This worked for me, so perhaps it will work for someone else too :)
@postmarketOS @neil awesome article! I see you ran into every possible permutation of the "Qualcomms USB drivers are shit" problem :/
I would mostly agree that the wiki doesn't feel overly cohesive, we have some ideas around this already (like some standard data format akin to the ubports install configs that would render on the website like lineageOS do) but it will take time and effort to get there (if you're reading this and find it interesting do get in touch!)
For the op6 specifically i think the long term solution will be switching to U-Boot (which you'd install via a web flasher probably?) and then flash everything else via that (with its much better usb drivers)
Thanks for sharing our focus on the philosophy, there is a (much more philosophical) movement called permacomputing, which postmarketOS evolved in parallel with but i would definitely describe it as a part of permacomputing by now
