At the weekend, a group of trans women protested topless at the Scottish Parliament about the recent Supreme Court ruling that the Equality Act defines women as "biological women". The police couldn't arrest them, because to arrest them for showing their breasts would be to define them as women (it's not illegal for men to be topless). And, of course, the right-wing press that reported on it censored their breasts, thereby making their point for them.

We absolutely need to organize around protecting childhood vaccine requirements for school entry. Anti-vaxxers are very well organized, and they are pressuring states to remove these requirements. It’s happening right now. It is IMPERATIVE that we have organized opposition to anti-vaxxers.

@mjausson I was trying to get my shot from the pharmacy at Kroger grocery. I asked if I could get one if I was the primary caregiver for immunocompromised persons (my parents) and they said they would contact corporate headquarters and get back to me. To my astonishment they did call me back and said that they would give me the shot. So that might be a loop hole for folks.

My local public library is handing out bookmarks that say this: "A book a day keeps reality away."

With vaccine mandates, they screamed about autonomy.

When vaccines get restricted, they cheer. Because it’s not about autonomy.

It’s about control. It’s about perpetuating the illusion that Covid is over. It’s about eugenics. It’s about thinning the herd but culling the weak & vulnerable.

And for many, it’s about payback. They haven’t dealt with their own trauma from the early days of Covid, and like bullies do, they’re taking it out on the most vulnerable in society.

These decisions cost lives. Criminalizing masks and restricting vaccines will kill and disable people.

Speak up. Call and email elected officials. Tell them to vote No on mask bans, Medicaid cuts and restricting vaccines. Tell them to do better.

OTD 45 years ago, at 8:32 AM, Mt. St. Helens erupted, displacing a cubic mile of debris, killing 57 people, darkening skies, and raining ash on 11 states.

I was camping with my girlfriend about 150 miles away in the Three Sisters Wilderness and we heard the blast. We heard a second big boom as it echoed off Mt. Jefferson or Mt. Washington. We got back to Portland in the mid afternoon in time to see the huge plume of ash trailing off as far as the eye could see.
