I'm openly shocked. People here know how much I'm involved in tech and innovation, how I tend to find the good side from everything. How I use AI but not solely relying on it.
But in the bot boosting disability-related posts I found a French user talking of "leftist anti-AI ideology / Linux is ableist like Windows" etc. Placing politics before tech usage. We had an Italian celebrity in theater and even songs, his name was Giorgio Gaber and one of his song sounded like this:
"what's the right, and what's the left? If you take a bath you are right-wing, if you take a shower you are leftist". And it continued with other everyday life choices. Just an ironic song, but it could be renewed with "big tech is the right, open source is the left", and so on.
I find that extremism brings nowhere. You can get the good and bad from everything. I'm the first to say that open source operating systems are less careful of disability than closed, but it's not directly intentional; it's due to their users percentage. Depending on how they're popular in public administrations spaces, with laws covering accessibility, Linux is still perceived as a niche and Android, Android is too fragmented, every company has its customization, and this is its good and its bad.
But licking AI companies' boots while being aggressive with others, is not the right approach. I rarely block someone on the Fediverse but when I see someone showing teeth and growling when talking, I think it's not worth the effort of trying a discussion.
