I’ve begun my journey to reduce my reliance on US tech, so it’s time for an update on how it’s all going.
No surprise, some services are far more easy to replace than others. Email and streaming are low-hanging fruit; maps and messaging can be more difficult. But we should still make the effort.

Just stupidly got my toe hung up on my jeans as I was undressing, toppled to the floor like a 6' 6" tree, and landed on my left knee HARD with a loud bang. I just saw a post that referred to ChatGPT as "Mansplaining as a service", and it is so wonderfully correct - instant generation of superficially plausible yet totally fabricated nonsense presented with unflagging confidence, regardless of topic, without concern, regard, or even awareness of the expertise of its audience :D #chatgpt #mansplaining #GenerativeAiIsGoingGreat

New here, why I’m here
I joined Facebook 20yrs ago when it felt genuine and personal. Now, as a cyclist and former hill walker and motorcyclist, my feed is filled with clickbait about accidents involving those activities. Same with Twitter, which started great for connecting with my edtech tribe but then turned vitrioolic. Hoping Mastodon offers a kinder, more thoughtful space.

5 years ago today. George Floyd was murdered by a racist cop who knelt on his neck and choked him for over 9 minutes.
I was only a kid back in 2020 but I remember seeing this on TV and it shocked tf out of me and knew it was cops v us.
Remember George today but also all the other black men murdered by cops.
