Idly wondering, what is the most complex / well made handwriting-simulation typeface made?
Underwareâs faces are pretty benchmark, like Scribo, with 1403 glyphs that substitute as you type.
Finnish is merciless, as you can see in the image below, âttâ and âĂ€â characters repeat.

GNOME's new 'Adwaita Fonts' â an Inter-esting set of new typefaces for UI and terminal https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2025/02/gnome-introduces-new-ui-monospace-adwaita-fonts?v1
The Chrome browser on Android, Linux and ChromeOS now does all its web font processing using a Rust-based library (Skrifa) instead of its old C++ library (FreeType).
This is part of a general trend. If you look at open jobs by programming language required, Rust is now #7 (up from #10 last time I looked). C++ and C# are declining drastically, Python, SQL, Java, and JavaScript/TypeScript are the top 5 and all growing rapidly. (Golang is #6, and also growing similarly to Rust.)
It seems like a perfect time to (re)introduce â as a symbol for the fediverse! Read our proposal at https://symbol.fediverse.info

Print designers: how did you learn about paper stock types, finishes, and weights? Or do you bother yourself with those details? I infinitely curious about the entire workflow and need a primer on this. @glennf #design #letterpress

Do I know anyone with experience adding diacritics to the name table? Ideally for a Robofont UFO > fontmake > OTF/TTF workflow.
It seems like this should be possible: https://www.robofont.com/documentation/how-tos/adding-localized-name-table/
I need diacritics in the family name, which is currently propegated into nameID 1, 3, 4, 6, and 16
But the language is Hawaiian, which isnʻt listed in the spec for lang ids (obviously small population, so Iʻm not surprised): https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/typography/opentype/spec/name#macintosh-language-ids
Any help would be much appreciated!
