For those #notetakers, what is your review schedule like to make sure your #2ndbrain doesn’t turn into note graveyard. I will write stuff down and enter data though struggle with how to surface things organically? I have a terrible memory and that includes regular review.

This time of year when it gets dark in my part of the world always makes me reflective. I think back on the year and then forward to the next. I always think about what did and didn’t work in terms of my PKM system. I moved from Agenda app to NotePlan, which has interesting. I really like how Agenda hooks into dates with notes though it doesn’t have a daily note type feature. I struggle with what do to with Daily Notes. If you use them; how do you?

PS. If you celebrate today; Merry Holiday!

@jendefer @bookstodon The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson has a pulpy feel (more so the later books).

I love BBEdit for text analysis. It is THE best. I use it regularly to read error files and when I am writing SQL I don’t use BBEdit though if I need to do an update to a query to reuse it (eg. Find and replace) then I usually paste the SQL into BBEdit, make the changes and then paste it back into my IDE.

I see that #Zotero can synchronise across devices using #Webdav. Has anyone tried that and if so, is it reliably working? And if so, could you point to an explanation of how to make it work even if I have no idea of what Webdav is?

(I need to switch from using the Zotero storage because I'm out of space (yes even on a $60/y plan) and need to sync across multiple computers + phone + Boox tablet.)

@gobino @drafts

Drafts is the best! It has been in my iPhone dock. You can get super fancy though a main thing I use it for is entry for lists; I make a shopping list and then I have a simple custom action to move it to a specific list in Reminders. Another good one is saving articles I want to read later; the Quick capture feature from Safari means you can capture the link plus some text from the link. I’ll go think up a few other uses though the real value is that it is so extensible!

@alex Thank you! This post was just perfect! I have spent more time thinking/ feeling like technology has lost its wonder and magic. This post reminded me a bit of that “magic”. Thank you!

Hoo boy. Watching Ascendance of a Bookworm I got to the part where she was drooling over the chance to organize the library according to her own structure.

Flashback to pre-teen me, drawing up charts and systems to re organize my parents' library. 😂 😂. I thought I was the only freak like that...

@macsparky I don’t know if you saw or not, but @noteplanapp just added the auto-templating feature you discussed in your NotePlan episode on MPU 756.

@jeffperry I think that may be harsh. Humanity and humans are filled with multitudes. I think as we get busier it is important to firewall off time to create. I get the pressure to make stuff (I experience that regularly) and may be different than in other times of our lives though that doesn’t make it lesser.

@ellane @obsidianmd

It is funny you mention this… I’ve had an issue with Obsidian showing blank pages. The page looks empty and the have just enough time to panic and then the text reappears. At first, I thought it was due to some plugins so I turned them off and swapped over to restricted mode. It’s still happening. Given everything, I haven’t had the chance to trouble shoot.

Is there any plugin for @zotero or something similar for collecting, storing and most of all: citing correctly #CreativeCommons licensed works?

Imagine a metadata field in #zotero for CC licenses and following that a straightforward workflow to add sources correctly to your shared works. (Would also need an additional entry type like "image")

I don't know who needs to hear this, but when I upgraded to #Zotero 7 on Ubuntu, I lost the app icon. To get it back I had to edit /usr/share/applications/zotero.desktop (with sudo) and set the icon path to /usr/lib/zotero/icons/icon64.png . the new icon is sassy!
