@alessacrea I tried this game and I loved it! The worldbuilding, graphics, and RPG mechanics were absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately it didn't autosave. I died somewhere in the mines and wasn't able to continue.

Late #ScreenshotSaturday : I made a little UI for my little CRT shader

Did you know you can make compile-time toggle switches? Instead of expensive if statements, they work through preprocessor `#if` statements. When a toggle is off, the corresponding code is not included in the final shader, and therefore doesn't consume any GPU resources at runtime.

@pandoriafalls I tried tilemaps back in the 3.x days. I ended up having to implement my own tile-to-collision mapping because there was no easy way to mark tiles as completely blocked or completely pass-through. Has this been addressed?

A #ScreenshotSaturday with bonus tutorial.

How to make a Wind Waker style stylized water texture:

1. Draw a roughly tileable vector shape
2. Tiling gaussian blur
3. Distort slightly (GIMP: Filters > Distortion > Ripple)
4. Apply a threshold filter (GIMP: Colors > Threshold)
5. Touch up, fix tiling issues, colorize
6. (optional) Duplicate and make a shadow.

Serve as-is, or with a distortion shader.

Step 1: rough blob-shaped outlines. Step 2: gaussian blur. Step 3: distortion filter. Step 4: threshold filter.An ocean scene that uses the water texture.

@DawnstarGames Stairs, and by extension, elevation.

When I implemented the ability to climb up stairs/ramps in my latest game, it also led to a ton of bugs where the character could climb up tables, railings, and monsters. But it was worth it for the satisfaction of ascending. Stairs give you this sense of progression that you don't get from a flat hallway.

I've been thinking of using a quad tree for a terrain thingy I'm working on, but so far chunks have been performant enough for my use case.

Also I'm deep into a rigging rabbit hole right now. I'm trying to get my rig/model to work on multiple engines and platforms, not just #Blender and #unity3d I've always loved #Rigify for its widgets, but it takes some work to convert Rigify humanoids to the various other humanoid rig formats out there (#Mixamo, #VRM, #Mecanim).

How do other 3D artists make cross-platform humanoid rigs?
