I do photography as a hobby. I primarily use Micro Four Thirds camera systems, since I really like the small form factor of some of the cameras. I started out with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1. Still love that 20mm pancake lens!
Went out to the salt ponds in nearby Alviso, California to get some photos for a photography class. The field of salt looked surreal with the orange sunset sky.
Clusters of Monarch butterflies on a tree at the Natural Bridges State Beach back in November 2024. Saw quite a number of butterflies in the butterfly sanctuary this year.
Made it out to the Reinhardt Redwood Regional park last weekend in search of clusters of ladybugs. Each winter they gather in big clusters. Some tree trunks have big patches of ladybugs.
I attended a meetup of local photographers and models organized by a group called West Coast Creatives and got the chance to photograph the talented GothiccRoze. She had quite the look with blue lipstick.
More hummingbird action from a visit to the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum in Santa Cruz, California. There were a number of hummingbirds flying around in the morning.
Attended a photography workshop up in Crescent City, CA this past weekend with one of the spots being at Damnation Creek Trail. It is well known for fog and blooming rhododendron flowers (when in bloom.) During the workshop, we didn't have much luck with foggy mornings but on my drive home it was foggy so I stopped to get some pictures.
While wandering around the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum I ran across the following flower plant that made me think of something from a Dr Seuss book. It is called a craspedia globosa.
My quick attempt at a solar eclipse photo taken in my front yard in the SF Bay Area. No totality here. Most coverage was around 35%. Shot with Olympus (OM System) OM-D EM-1, Panasonic Lumix 100-400mm lens and a ND100000 filter.
