@hjzl16 @ente Thanks for the feedback. I would be migrating away from iCloud Photos so similar to your situation. I also plan to use the hosted solution and run a backup sync via the ente CLI to my NAS for safe keeping.
Q - How do you handle the photos on your phone - do you leave like a months worth of photos (to make any changes in Photos or Darkroom) and then when the month is over (and the photos are sync'ed) then delete them from the phone?
Looking at @ente to replace my current cloud based photo storage solution. Love the fact its open source, E2EE, can self host, auto syncs from iOS and Android and does AI/ML for face recognition on-device.
Anyone have any experiences with Ente photos? Feel free to reply or DM. Thanks in advance.

If you're having trouble with audio sync from your Apple TV to an external soundbar or sound system:
Turn on Match Format and Match Dynamic Range in the Apple TV's video settings.
I don't know why this makes a difference on my LG C7 OLED, but it REALLY, REALLY does.

Yeah... e-tolls in a rental car... where the "convenience" fee is almost double the cost of the actual tolls for two days. I am not against the fee, but it should be a ratio of the toll charges per day capped at a daily rate vs just a daily rate.

Found the issue - `ipptool` pointed at mDNS since it couldn't connect to the print server, so found the mismatch in both systems `/etc/nsswitch.conf`
add to the line that start with hosts: `mdns_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] `
So I have a printer connected to a Mac mini running printopia. I have two laptops running Fedora 40 and both see the printer advertised on the network.
But one laptop can print successfully while the other is stuck on “Getting printer information” when at the system print screen and won’t let me click on “print”.
My Google searches at failing me but before I run down the rathole that is debugging CUPS, has anyone had this same experience and how they fixed it?
Looking to move away from iOS on my phone - prefer a deGoogled Android platform for app compatibility (and Android Auto).
Question is should I look at /e/OS or GrapheneOS? Thoughts?
It's 2024 and @peacocktv still blocks paying subscribers from using Linux to stream their services. It uses the same DRM tech (Widevine) as the other major streaming services, but unlike the others Peacock blocks any clients identifying as Linux. (via Firefox or Brave)
