I honestly didn't think this would happen.
Yet another way for people to force cookies and tracking on us.

The Sun website wants you to PAY in order to be able to reject cookies. I've not seen this before but am not at all surprised.

Just another thing to ruin the internet.

@Theeo123 ugh! There are so many better things that can be done in the world.
It amazes me that this crap keeps getting passed.

Congress just passed the TAKE IT DOWN Act, a major threat to privacy and free speech.

It forces platforms to remove flagged content within 48 hours, using flawed automated filters, and pressures them to monitor even encrypted messages.

With vague rules and no real safeguards, it opens the door to censorship and abuse—all under the guise of protecting victims.

I rarely tell people to throw their devices into the sea, but you should throw your Amazon Echo into the sea.

@evacide I had thought they were doing this already..............for years.

Sadly it won't stop the majority still buying into these trash devices. But hopefully something good will come from more people not using them.

Not only is one German state moving from Microsoft to LibreOffice, but the whole federal government is committing to move to open standards by 2027: blog.documentfoundation.org/bl

@NebulaTide Definitely not being petty. Even going up by 1 Euro is still going to be millions upon millions of Euros per month for them.
I highly doubt their costs have actually changed at all.

Many of the songs on my playlists stop being playable for a while, then they come back, then they go again.
Don't have that issue with CDs :D

Stumbled upon this post about LG TVs basically 'hardcore mode' spying on you.
This is just ridiculous. Ads based on emotions?! and A.I in a TV?!
FFS! Is there no end in sight to us being used to make the ol' FatCats even more rich?

@privacy_guru Oh yes. This has been happening for decades, even back in the days of Television.
Most regulatory people call it "dynamic range" which is a real thing in Sound but I really feel they just use it as an excuse to get away with the volume change. You might even notice the same when youtubers do sponsorships, it gets louder too.

It's possible to get around it but does require some re-routing of sound outputs and tweaking.

I've been watching a ton of my 's and I realised how private it is. Unlike streaming services that continually monitor your viewing habits physical media is entirely private. The convenience of took over much of my viewing habits the last few years and while the was in the back of my mind I accepted it, but lately I've been using streaming a lot less to take back my and I have a huge library. Might as well make use of it.

Privacy Project has started an online shop to bring privacy related gear to our readers. Gear such as face coverings, face & neck Gaiters and hats.

We feel it's becoming more and more important and unfortunately necessary to hide our faces from unwanted mass surveillance.

So site blocking in the US could very well become law in the near future thanks to #FADPA unless we all speak up.

It's a large action day in the US & the world - Have your mobile devices switched off or leave them at home to avoid being caught in dragnet .

Keep them off for the complete journey - before and after. If you must use your mobile, be diligent in your efforts to protect yourself:

- Encrypt your device
- Have it pin-locked
- Disable logons
- Disable
- Disable location services
- Carpool

Just found by accident a great keyboard shortcut in the Brave browser, firefox & IceCat.
Ctrl-Shift+Del will open the "delete browsing data" dialog.
Never knew this before (I'm sure others did) but it's really cool!
