You know what ““““AI”””” feature I’d actually use in Firefox? A locally-powered text-to-speech feature for the reader mode. Read me this web page in a natural voice, using some of the advances in recent models!
Is that possible to do efficiently in the browser, or are those models too big to be effective? Or would it need to lean on the OS APIs?
If you too find the new emojis in #Firefox ugly and unreadable, here is how to get back the old ones (at least it works in the Debian package):
Go to about:config, search "emoji". If the "font.name-list.emoji" property contains "Noto Color Emoji, Twemoji Mozilla", just change it to "Twemoji Mozilla, Noto Color Emoji".
you cannot foresee all the ways #dyslexia #adhd #astigmatism #blindness are expressed in people. so if you are a developer of interactive text-based apps like blogs and *ahem* microblogs (like Mastodon), give people the chance to adjust their #uiux with their own stylesheets.
mastodon looks completely different on my browser than on android exactly because of what i can do with #Firefox and their #CSS addons like Stylish.
democratization of CSS must be an #accessibility priority.
coucou les zamis depuis quelques temps je teste #Vivaldi comme Navigateur, sympa. Et vous quel est votre navigateur préféré ? et pourquoi ? #Librewolf ? #firefox ? (...)
it’s why i have a personal stylesheet. i don't expect software developers to know shit about fonts, even less about textual (as opposed to graphic) design.
but that's why i have parked my ass these days with Obsydian. i can change MY UI/UX with my own stylesheet.
it’s the same with browsers. am stuck with #Firefox because i can change MY #uiux with my own stylesheet.
if you are a developer who doesn’t think of fonts and stylesheets as an #accessibility issue, then think again…
I’m seeing this several times a day now. 😞 No idea what causes it. #Firefox
I see Firefox has introduced some email masking, and their ad-widget jumps in front of my 1Password widget on my login attempts and I click that instead. The result is I grow abnormally large and green and bust out of my clothes while I start growling and throwing things. Checking the settings, and I cannot turn this off.
EDIT: Tickbox is greyed out & prefs say it is controlled by the 1P extension; cld not figure out how. But if I allow the modal to open, theres a 'do not show' option

One minute about #Firefox 's new features in 2025. I had forgotten that you can use vertical tabs like in Arc or Edge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGhXcNV7m-k

Protip: Reporting bugs against JS/HTML rendering (or logic) in Firefox is fairly pointless.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_web_browsers
It's down below 2.5%, lower than MS Edge. Chrome and Safari are the present.
I won't install AI slop machines on my computer, and they've been heading that way for years, and are all-in now. The bad guys won a long time ago.
Install degoogled Chromium, if you don't have Safari. There's probably some other sane options. (NO, not Brendan Eich's "Brave").
I don't understand how some apps can, in 2025, implement both a light theme and a dark theme, but no "follow system" option. It's super annoying.
(I also can't understand why #firefox does not provide a native way of selecting a theme for light mode and dark mode 🤷♂️ )
Well, it now came to this: I have to install an add-on in #LibreWolf (#Firefox fork) as well on my almost naked #Chromium in order to get reliable session resume after browser restart: #TabSessionManager
LibreWolf as well as Chromium do seem to have session loss issues and need additional help. 😔
