@Ambulocetus see if they get rid of the pennies then we have to check our tire treads with a larger diameter coin, so we'll replace them sooner. The plan is to eliminate dimes next.

2025 was a really tough year for many. Some are mourning loved ones who didn’t live to see 2026.

Some are wondering how or why tf we’re still here. I’m glad you are.

I am thankful for the Fedi folks I’ve interacted with along the way. Some of you I consider friends even if we’ll likely never meet in person.
I never underestimate the power of connecting with people online.
Don’t listen to those who diminish this.

Many people don’t have access or the option to meet people in person and even if you do, it’s hard to meet the people who see you as the lovely and loveable human you are.
Cherish the ones who do.

Those warm fuzzy feelings you have when you interact with your favourite being is real. Hold onto that feeling and bring it with you into 2026.
We’ll need it.

If you don’t know what that feeling is like I welcome you to be open to experiencing it this year. Let yourself meet people online and/or in person who leave you feeling like a worthy person. Let yourself be that person for yourself and for others.

See you on the other side of 2025.

It’s #winter. The buzzing has stopped - mostly.
So what’s happened to all the #bees?
Let me explain.
Please #repost this thread.
Don’t just like/look.
It literally takes you a second. Costs you nothing.
Bees are in trouble and need you good people to help.
Thank you.

In a world that appears ever more divided, ever more angry, ever more willing to embrace the obvious annihilistic option we refuse to give up on the premise that most #people are #decent. That most people #care deeply.
Maybe we can #unite over #bees.
Do the right thing for once.
Make the good choice.
Maybe?
Please share this thread far and wide.

We know you care.
Show us.
Show one another.
Show the bees you care.
It’s okay to care.
It’s more fulfilling than hate.

So.. What's Bilbo doing there? Is he writing a book? "There and back again" 🤔
Bilbo: Hey? Not so nosy! I'm not finished yet!

Hm a book with BB initials and his old contract with Thorin aside? What might it be about?

Meanwhile, Frodo is inspecting the chimney... This will be a really good hobbit hole!

:blobcatbigfan: Making Steam-Powered LEGO Machines.

Over the decades we have seen a lot of methods for powering LEGO-based contraptions, ranging from LEGO Technic pneumatics to electric motors, but what about steam power? We have all seen those cute little model steam engines that can definitely put out some power. Sure, you can just drop those in like a kind of confused internal combustion engine, or you can try to make a steam engine that actually tries to be directly compatible with LEGO.

⁉️Model steam engine enthusiasts are of course quick to point out that you should try to create dry steam through superheating, definitely add a safety valve and so on, all of which should make for an even more powerful and safe LEGO steam engine.⁉️

For a rundown of how steam engines work, [Lawrie] did an excellent video on the basics a while back, as well as a video playlist full of demonstrations of both classical Mamod model engines and questionable modern takes.

<https://youtu.be/x3sqvSp_rgE>

👾Suffice it to say that although model steam engines look like toys, they involve fire, hot steam and other fascinating ways to melt things, light them on fire and cause painful injuries, so definitely follow a safety briefing before attempting any of it at home.👾

A tumblr post; "I am shocked at how many people don't have an actively hostile relationship with advertising.

I am skipping your ads as fast as I can. I'm skipping past your sponsor read. I'm muting the TV. I'm muting the tab. If they get too annoying I will simply stop trying to watch.

If advertisers can use every manipulative trick in the book to get me to buy their product, I am fully within my rights to do everything I can on my end to make their job impossible."
