Found a website that summarizes terms of service for lots of services out there such as Facebook, Reddit, Amazon and others; ranking them from grade A, very good, to grade E, awful. Take a look and you might be shocked by some of the stuff we all miss because we don't read TOS. Needless to say, this is going in my important sites list. https://tosdr.org. I'm concerned you're right. We in middle class America are simply not prepared for large systems (banks, insurance companies) to fail.
But that only makes failure more likely in the long run.

@deadmessenger It took a lot more than a weekend... about three years of road trips.
Left me in the inconvenient position of having had experiences which made it impossible or at the very least highly irrational for me to doubt, but also having a lot of anger and frustration at the Higher Power in charge.
I agree that optimism is a blessing, and power to you if you can muster it.
