#Aberthaw

Oh dear. Half day at work and my #bike just stopped at the Blue Anchor in #Aberthaw. Must get that fixed. #Biketooter

Ok, we’re in the United Kingdom. The scene is mostly grey stone. The roof is thatched. It’s a classic British pub, but a bit too close to see the whole of it. In the left foreground is a pint glass with dark beer and a creamy head. It’s Theakstons Old Peculier. Will I stay for a second? There’s a bike in the frame, obscured by a wall. The drop handlebars and saddle are visible.

A little wander over at Gileston, between #Aberthaw and #LlantwitMajor on the #southwales #heritage coast this afternoon. #beach #rocks #rubikscube #dice

A low perspective shot along a small creek towards (the now decommissioned) Aberthaw power station. The station sits under a blue and cloud strewn sky, whilst grassy banks either side of the creek frame the lower half of the imageA low perspective shot from the flat grey rocks of Gileston beach out into the Bristol Channel. A small headland reaches in from the right, whilst in the left hand distance, the hills of Exmoor are seen. A large container ship, and a smaller freighter and small fishing boat are specks in the distanceThis image looks across a rocky grass strewn foreground, beyond some large concrete sea defence cubes, over a creek running left to right. Beyond the creek is some scrub and a hedge and beyond that a bright yellow field of unknown crop (too late for rape seed). In the distance are gently rolling arable fields under a mostly blue sky with a few dotted clouds.A curious photo. In the foreground and to the left is a creek. On the upper right is Aberthaw Power Station. Centrally sitting on a pebble bank are a number of sea defence concrete blocks, probably about 6ft by 6ft by 6ft. One of these has been painted brightly to look like a Rubik's cube, and two other shave been painted white with black dots like dice.

Today's #WalesCoastalPath #wander took me from #Aberthaw to #Porthkerry, so some photos for #PhotoMonday

#LeysBeach
A family of Mute #Swans
A #CommonBlue #Butterfly
and #Barrybados looking lush

Looking along the coastline. In the foreground a concrete wall backs a brick pavement which curves gently down to a pebble beach. The mouth of an unseen stream separates this beach from a further long pebble and rock beach. In the mouth of the stream, 4 white, mute swans swim. In the distance on the right hand side a triangular metal structure reaches into the sky. To the left, the Bristol channel is calmly reflecting a blue sky. A rounded concrete structure, the water intake for the power station, sits just offshore. The Devon coastline can be seen rising on the opposite side of the channelA bright white Mute Swan with an orange beek leads four grey brown cygnets across calm green waterA butterfly sits amongst sharp stones, feeding on the single yellow amongst them. It's wings are closed. They are light brown with with white edges and black and yellow spotsBushes frame a v shaped slice of blue sea. Opposite, a steep white pebble beach gives way to houses and flats. Amongst them, a large wheel and tall spire of a fun fair can be seen

Ticked off another short section of the #WalesCoastalPath today, Not the prettiest start at #Aberthaw #PowerStation, but photographic in it's own way. A giant Rubik Cube and Die was a surprise spot, before the usual impressive coastal views of the #Glamorgan #HeritageCoast kicked in. Finished at #LlantwitMajor #beach

#Cymru #Wales #Landscape #Seascape

A large smooth sided, mostly white, building dominated the landscape. A tall dark chimney rises from the centre of it. A row of large grey concrete blocks leads from the camera towards the building. A wide bank of wildflowers follows the line of the blocks, they are mostly white or various shades of red and purpleA large imposing, modern looking, power station squats behind a bank of pebbles. A line of electricity pylons leads away to it's left. A number of very large concrete blocks lie on the pebbles and scrubland in front of the building. One of them has been painted in multicolour squares, so that it resembles a Rubik's cube. A second has been painted to resemble a white die, five dots on the top face, 4 on the front and 1 on the right.A rocky beach leads away from the camera, backed by a high bank of white pebbles. In the distance a wooded headland sits above a dark blue sea, reflecting an almost cloudless sky. To the right green farmland stretches to the horizonA long rocky beach stretches out into the distance, A calm pale blue sea reflects a cloudless sky. A grassy border leads along the cliff top rising over climbing sheer limestone and mudstone cliffs. In the distance, the sea wall of St Donat's Castle can be seen, backed by a wooded hillside, above which, Nash Point lighthouse rises

Todays #DailyPhoto, from earlier this week.... #Graffitti inside the old #Aberthaw #Limeworks. On the one hand, vandalism of a historic building....on the other, I quite like the colour in the photo 🤔 🤷‍♂️

The inside wall of an old ruined building. there are 3 rows of square windows stretching along a grey stone wall. In between each row the remains of beams that once supported 2 floors can be seen. There is no roof and a mostly clear blue sky can be seen above. In between each ground level window graffiti has been spray painted. The first reads "TYSK" in bubblegum pink, shaded in an attempt at 3D lettering, It has "OTS" above it in much smaller navy blue lettering. The next section appears to a have a large "Z" painted in pale blue with a white outline. There is more above this "Z" and further along the wall, but details cannot be made out in the photo

Took advantage of today's sun and blue sky to take a #walk, from Ffont-y-gari, along the #WalesCoastalPath to the old #Aberthaw #LimeWorks and back along the #Beach. Along the way, spotted a #TuftedDuck with a serious case of bed hair and a #MuteSwan which was begging to have the obligatory #reflection photo taken of it.

Looking over a small still lake surrounded by rushes, The water reflects the clouded blue sky. On the far side of the lake is a large partially ruined brick structure. It is split into 3 sections, the nearest is completely rectangular, grey and windowless with 3 small arched entrances at the bottom. A red brick chimney reaches for the sky at the right hand side. The middle building, also grey, has a gable end which obviously supported a sloping roof at some point. 2 rows of 3 rectangular windows can be seen in it. The 3rd building is mostly covered in ivy, but appears to be rectangular and windowless2 ducks swimming on a lake with rushes in the foreground. The left duck is mostly brown with a small tuft of feathers at the back of its head, The Right hand duck is mostly black with a bright white belly. Feathers are sticking up and out from its head in a messy fashionA swan, completely white with the exception of its orange beak and black patch between its beak and eye, is reflected in the slightly rippling water, behind it rushes form a dense walllooking down a beach, the foreground is sand but further on it is covered in large pebbles. To the left are high, yellow sandstone cliffs, topped with grass. To the right a calm receding sea breaks gently on the beach, and above a thick layer of white and grey clouds is punctuated by patches of blue sky

Heritage Coast Sunset

An image from Rhoose looking towards Aberthaw. The incoming water washing over the jurassic coastline, the beach being a fossilised seabed.
