#Accessibilty

I've encountered so many of these #Accessibilty overlay grifts, that now anytime I see the Vetruvian Man in a circle, I instinctively recoil.

What horrors hide behind that button? Or, the span wrapping a link that's pretending to be a button?

Celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness: Building an Accessible and Inclusive TikTok - Newsroom | TikTok https://newsroom.tiktok.com #AI #accessibilty #TikTok

Text Shot: Alternative text for photos: We recently introduced alternative text for photo posts, which allows creators to add alt text during upload or after publishing. We're building on that by testing a new feature that leverages artificial intelligence to generate alt text which will be read out loud by screen readers. These features improve usability for people who are blind, have low vision, or process content differently.

Text Shot: Last year we brought Gemini’s capabilities to TalkBack, Android’s screen reader, providing people who are blind or low-vision with AI-generated descriptions for images, even when there’s no alt text. Today, we’re expanding this Gemini integration so people can ask questions and get responses about their images. That means the next time a friend texts you a photo of their new guitar, you can get a description and ask follow-up questions about the make and color, or even what else is in the image

If Apple gets apple intelligence right, the biggest Beneficiary will be accessibility — Curb Cuts https://www.curbcuts.co/blog/2025320if-apple-gets-apple-intelligence-right-the-biggest-beneficiary-will-be-accessibility #AI #accessibilty #Apple

Text Shot: By my estimation, there has been a pittance of focus on Apple Intelligence and accessibility; by contrast, the lion’s share of the coverage has been, while constructive in spots, has been mostly overwhelmingly negative in tone.

Take Image Playgrounds, for instance. Most observers in the Apple community loathe the feature for being goofy and generally useless, also pointing to the general distaste over how robots can now create. What this perspective lacks is, of course, empathy for disabled people. Whatever you, able-bodied reader, may think of artificial intelligence and tools like Midjourney, for example, the reality is it’s extremely plausible the advent of Image Playgrounds gives an aspiring artist with disabilities—someone who may not be able to use an Apple Pencil on iPad Pro—a conduit through which to unleash their creativity and self-expression. This is not at all trivial, regardless of one’s philosophical views on art or their views on the quality of Image…

Lego can make a successful mobility aid if you’re a turtle.

Here’s a cheering story about Root, a wood turtle with attitude, at the Halifax’s Museum of Natural History.

“He doesn't live in a sewer, his name isn't Donatello and he doesn't ride a skateboard. But little Root the turtle does get around on his own set of wheels.”

📣From first-timer to fitness star! ⭐️

This made my day! An amazing senior tried the Malden Fitness Court for the first time today and even tackled 😅 the challenge! It’s moments like these that remind me why making fitness accessible is so important.

It’s never too late to get active. 👟💪🏾

Applications without a dark mode theme have a #accessibilty issue.

My #migraines are sensitive to light, so I need to reduce the brightness of everything during a migraine. There are many apps which become unusable (literally physically painful to use) because they don't have a dark mode (looking at you native mobile #PixelFed app).

Profilfoto austauschen, Foto posten. Einen Blogartikel schreiben. Im #Fediverse posten.

Auf den Tag hinweisen. Über das Thema schreiben. Über einen Aspekt schreiben. Fragen posten. Links posten. Einfach ein wenig Aufmerksamkeit fürs Thema erzeugen. 🧢

In our next title, which was developed in another engine, and in which we had to develop our own dialog system, we added the option to go back in the dialog 🥳

Have you ever wanted to implement an #accessibilty feature but were not able to do so? Let me know, I am curious! 🧵 3/3

A screenshot of the game Sherlock Phones. It shows a dialog with the evil virus Cypher and the player can go forth or back in the dialog. The caption reads: In our next game, which we created in another technology, I built my own dialog system and added an option to go back.

This journal article explores UDL strategies in a higher education learning environment by interviewing faculty members. The findings suggest that it is very important for faculty and instructional designers to cultivate partnerships and standardize UDL implementation across courses. Faculty members also expressed being resistant to UDL strategies because of limited, time, and institutional priorities, and reliance on an accommodations-based model. #accessibilty eric.ed.gov/?id=EJ1211170
