The world is a big ship which doesn't turn on a dime. As Gibson said, the future isn't evenly distributed.

That's why there are not only multiple different strategies in the global AI transformation, but also multiple different realities.

The weight of the technological singularity is bending the reality so that different businesses live in completely different worlds.

Should you build frontier models? Maybe. Maybe you can see a niche for specialist frontier model? Go for it! Do you think you can displace established B2B or SaaS with AI engineered solutions? Awesome!

Just keep in mind that some of the opportunities we see are not really mirages, but will disappear once the AI capabilities improve. The reality is bending, faster every quarter.

In the times of change, it makes sense to get back to basics and seek security from unchanging truths.

For example that data containing valuable experience needs to be generated distributed across the world and that cannot be done by an AI enclosed within a closed data center.

A topology of data value creation networks follows, and you can use this as a guiding map on where you are and where you want to be. This will form the fabric of the future economies.

But it will take time for this to happen and propagate everywhere, so you need to make rational choices in these time-sensitive times to get where you want to be.

AGI - Il Gruppo Maire ha annunciato che la sua filiale Nextchem si è aggiudicata un importante contratto da 485 milioni di euro per partecipare alla costruzione di tre grandi complessi industriali nell'Africa occidentale. Due di questi siti saranno dedicati alla produzione di fertilizzanti (urea), mentre il terzo produrrà sia ammoniaca che metanolo, due sostanze ampiamente utilizzate nell'industria chimica e agricola. Nextchem fornirà le tecnologie, i progetti tecnici e alcune attrezzature chiave necessarie per il completamento di questi progetti. Una parte iniziale del contratto (10 milioni di euro) copre gli studi ingegneristici già avviati. La parte restante sarà confermata una volta che il cliente avrà preso la decisione finale sull'investimento.
I due impianti di fertilizzanti avranno una capacità produttiva totale di oltre 3 milioni di tonnellate di urea all'anno. Includeranno diverse unità per la produzione di idrogeno e ammoniaca necessari per la produzione di urea. L'obiettivo è garantire una produzione su larga scala migliorando al contempo l'efficienza energetica e riducendo il consumo di risorse. Il terzo complesso produrrà oltre 900.000 tonnellate di ammoniaca e oltre 600.000 tonnellate di metanolo all'anno. Una parte dell'impianto sarà progettata per produrre queste due sostanze in modo flessibile, a seconda della domanda.
Le tecnologie utilizzate sono state sviluppate da GasConTec, azienda del Gruppo Nextchem specializzata in soluzioni a basse emissioni di carbonio per idrogeno e metanolo. Fabio Fritelli, CEO di Nextchem, ha definito il contratto "storico", sottolineando che conferma la competenza del gruppo lungo l'intera filiera produttiva, dall'idrogeno ai fertilizzanti, e rafforza la sua posizione di partner leader per progetti industriali integrati su larga scala.

AGI - Maire Group has announced that its Nextchem subsidiary has secured a significant €485 million contract to participate in the construction of three large industrial complexes in West Africa. Two of these sites will be dedicated to the production of fertilizers (urea), while the third will produce both ammonia and methanol, two substances widely used in the chemical and agricultural industries. Nextchem will provide the technologies, technical designs and some key equipment needed to complete these projects. An initial part of the contract (€10 million) covers the engineering studies already underway. The remaining part will be confirmed once the client has made the final investment decision.

The two fertilizer plants will have a total production capacity of over 3 million tons of urea per year. They will include several units for the production of hydrogen and ammonia necessary for urea production. The goal is to ensure large-scale production while improving energy efficiency and reducing resource consumption. The third complex will produce over 900,000 tons of ammonia and over 600,000 tons of methanol per year. Part of the plant will be designed to produce these two substances flexibly, depending on demand.

The technologies used have been developed by GasConTec, a Nextchem Group company specializing in low-carbon emission solutions for hydrogen and methanol. Fabio Fritelli, CEO of Nextchem, described the contract as “historic,” emphasizing that it confirms the group’s expertise along the entire production chain, from hydrogen to fertilizers, and strengthens its position as a leading partner for large-scale integrated industrial projects.

Will there be sustainable superabundance for all in the future? The term was coined by David Wood in his book of the same name.

If a question seems difficult to answer, we often have an incorrect question or at least an incorrect framing.

If we start from the constraints and the first principles to get some sense of the shape of the world to come.

If intelligence is just a collection of transferrable knowledge and skills, the intelligence explosion will simply be about exploiting the resources of the world with less waste and fewer negative consequences than with our current system hobbling along with less intelligence and understanding. We can serve our existing societal goals better and reach higher for more ambitious goals.

From the real economic perspective what happens is that we can get more cognitive and physical work done more efficiently and better than with human labor. This includes science and engineering, leading to more resources and abundance in aggregate as bottlenecks are removed.

We can make our society become to be less about day to day survival, and make it something more. Technology has always transformed humanity along with it, we are fundamentally an animal living in symbiosis with technology, not quite unlike ants building anthills, and hermit crabs adapting to new kinds of containers to use as homes.

Maybe the correct question to ask is what the obstacles to sustainable superabundance are.

The main obstacle typically recognized is an incorrect alignment of the new AI-driven economy to the interests of the many. This is why alignment research is important. If the machines are well aligned with the interests of the many, we will definitely have sustainable superabundance. It directly follows.

We are now living in the pivotal moment in the history of the humanity, and people will probably need to fight to have their interests incorporated into the alignment of the future economic system.

On the positive side, our current system is pretty badly aligned as it is, so maybe doing worse than what we have now is not very likely.

Engineers see #neuralnetworks as algorithmized perception. That's why they use terms like "thinking," "reasoning," "learning," and "agent" to describe what is at bottom still just 1s and 0s. They are confused on this matter because they lack an education in #psychology.

On the other hand, #AGI, which is basically the algorithm of algorithms, might be possible. It is not impossible to imagine. But it will only happen once a proper psychologist decides to become an engineer.
