Had a #GitHubActions workflow fail this morning because it couldn't find `terraform`. This would be because ubuntu-latest is being updated to ubuntu-24.04 and the new image doesn't include terraform as per https://github.com/actions/runner-images/issues/10636.
The good news is there is an installer action you can use to ensure the Terraform CLI bits are available for your workflow. https://github.com/marketplace/actions/hashicorp-setup-terraform
This will also impact #AzurePipelines runs on Microsoft-hosted agents as they share the same images as GitHub Actions.
getting beyond annoyed by #AzurePipelines again, why do I keep doing this to myself …

It feels like #DDDAdelaide was only a couple of weeks ago, and now I'm looking forward to attending and speaking at @dddbrisbane this Saturday!
To paraphrase HG Nelson, "Where too much DDD is barely enough" 😃
I'll be presenting my 10 favourite tips and tricks for GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps. I hope to see you there!

My program, which has a JIT compiler in it, is getting killed (or at least it seems like) on azure pipelines. when i turn the JIT off it runs fine. when i use IMAGE_NAME: 'windows-2019' instead of -latest, it runs fine.
Is there some kind of new security feature or exploit mitigation or whatever that was turned on some time between these two images that might be killing my program because the jit needs to be adapted to it?
How the heck do i find out how my program is actually quitting? "exit code 0xff" is not terribly enlightening ...
This is incredibly frustrating to debug, not just because I have to wait ~10 minutes between putting a change in and seeing the result, and the majority of tools windows developers have at their disposal seem to only be usable with a GUI which, surprise surprise, azure pipelines runners don't let you access.

I'm very confused. There's an azure pipelines worker here where a powershell script job is looking up the vs dev shell commandlet with vswhere -latest -find **\Microsoft.VisualStudio.DevShell.dll
This step seems to be taking between 7 and 12 minutes? Give or take?
What am I missing? This is ridiculous?

Oh #Jenkins, how I miss’d thee not.
Myriads upon myriads art the ways thou definest thy #pipelines, many that dost not #commit to a #sourcecode #repository.
#Plugins hast thou in surpassing abundance, and ridiculous art their expressions in #XML.
Yet reckon with thee again I must, if we are to #decommission thee in favor of #AzurePipelines and its #templates of #YAML, with indentation most rigid.

Azure Pipelines (DevOps) has been repeatedly logging me out, or leaving me only partially logged in, since approx Monday. Anyone else noticed? Disabling uBlock Origin & Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection seemed to fix it for a few hours; but it just re-occured. #AzureDevops #AzurePipelines
Hi to any #azuredevops #azurepipelines folks, I'm having some issues trying to checkout another repo in the same org ("does not exist or you do not have permissions") and hoping someone can help.
The setup:
- Primary code repo is in Github (Sebbs128/firewall)
- public DevOps project for build+test+release pipeline (sebbs/Yarp.Extensions.Firewall)
- private DevOps project+repo for test assets (sebbs/Yarp.Extensions.Firewall.TestAssets) due to licensing, but tests require the files.
Well, that was quite a productive day. Managed to get Azure DevOps Pipelines managing deployments of a Sitecore XM Cloud project and related front end app to Vercel in spite of the "just connect both hosts to your GitHub repo and magic!" docs.
Controlled releases and clear audits and approvals. Nice.

If you use Azure Pipelines, then you should be aware that there are number of tasks (and older versions of tasks) that are currently deprecated, and will soon be completely removed.
Check out https://devblogs.microsoft.com/devops/azure-pipelines-deprecated-tasks-retirement-schedule/?WT.mc_id=DOP-MVP-5001655 to see which tasks are affected and how to stay supported. #AzureDevOps #AzurePipelines
