iirc, #BCCons were established by (probably illegal) USD pumped into propaganda faux news and social media campaigns. There was a lot of splashy cash cached **somewhere**.

Which is likely what the fighting is really about. Now the top Gunn is in Ottaway with the CPC banner overhead, the taps have likely been shut off.

A game of he said, they said. BC Conservative Party and board say leader John Rustad has been removed, Trevor Halford appointed interim leader.

Rustad insists he is not going anywhere and the move is against the party constitution.

BC politics is always entertaining.

@pinhman The "conservative" name didn't always stand for these things, but as of Reform's federal takeover, & as Tea Cup & MAGA & other photo-fascists have taken over so-called conservative parties, there is no home left for the rare people (perhaps Sturko is among them?) who might actually be traditional "conservatives." October 20, the day after the election and the day Elections BC announced the Initial Count, 338 gave the #BCCons a 19% chance of forming a majority government, and a 9% chance of forming a minority government.

#BCNDP have 2 seats with automatic recounts; the Cons have 1 which could be reviewed. The automatic reviews have a less than 13% chance of overturning. The Judicial review has a less than 5% chance.

That math doesn't work to 19%. Ever.

I think your analysis is fair.
When I did some work with the 2015 VI federal Green campaign I was struck by how comfortable old-style Canadian “red Tories” were as Greens. If you’re following me you’ll know I have a fondness for these relics who have no home in the Reform-style “conservatism” of current federal and BC Cons. This is NOT conservatism. It is fascism writ small.

The key message here is: the #BCCons will change their platform whenever it is convenient for them.

A platform is what they promise to do. There are no do-overs. Either they lied before, or they are lying now. There is no other interpretation.

My first clues about this election would play out was a #BCCons door-knocker duo last spring/early summer.

The one was clearly training in the other, who gave me their pitch, which targeted the #BCNDP on health care topics, particularly Health Care Workers #HCW numbers and training, and number of clinics and hospital beds.

My partner is a #Nurse researcher at #UBC. I have inside information. Nearly every statement they made was provably false.

They grilled me when I said that.

As long as I am thinking about it, I am extremely disappointed with the #polling.

I have received a number of pollster calls. Exactly zero of these were from a reputable pollster.

Every call’s first question was deliberately biased in favour of the #BCCons. (I do not participate in commercial polling, only in government & non-profit)

I suspect the purpose of the biased 1st question is to cause non-con voters to hang up, so all polls report conservative results.

Ugh. Health care should *never* be left in the hands of those who would con us for the benefit of their private sector cronies.
