I’m convinced there’s a #saboteur in the City, working against #ActiveTransportation. This is brand new infrastructure and someone had to place a pole in the middle of TWO paths. Everything here was torn up and completely new stuff installed. At least you can press the #BegButton as the City usually makes them inaccessible. #yegbike #BikeTooter

And that #BegButton for the #PedestrianCrossing? Even in the most perfect non-#winter conditions, it favours vehicular traffic so much that I am often NOT QUITE all the way to the curb on the other side.

Again, busy 4-lane feeder road with plenty of roaring traffic. 🙄😡

I mean, sure, to get to the new stop one also has to hit a #BegButton that has been explicitly timed for traffic on a four-lane (six if parking lanes are included) major feeder road.

Depending on whether the bus is on time or not, one can be early for the bus but still watch it whiz past as one awaits the #PedestrianLight to change.

Then it'll be another 20-30 min to await the next one, with no shelter from #traffic, #wind, or #rain / #snow.

How to show you really don’t care about people outside of cars: block the #begbutton with a road construction sign.

Always great to watch a @nerd4cities video about pedestrian crossing treatments. Some mention of #begbutton delay times for full red light crosswalks and #accessibility of button placement would have been nice, but, as great showmen do, always leave your audience wanting more.

#RoadSafety colleagues: In my ongoing quest to reduce #crash exposure for pedestrians at 2-stage crossings (with a median/pedestrian refuge), I'm in search of examples of 2-stage #pedestrian cossings that either:

* Do not require a second request for a #WalkSignal from the #RefugeIsland (one #BegButton controls both stages), or

* Immediately trigger a ped phase when a walk signal is triggered from the refuge island.
