Why did the caterpillar cross the road?

I asked, it glanced at the sign and said:

“Choose your own adventure.” Not stopping for any further chit chat. 🐛

So I did.

And now you know.

Crioch / End.

#EuroVelo1 #BikeRoute #WestCork

A hairy caterpillar crossing a dry hardcore road. It was moving a fair speed.A street sign with, top to bottom, a diamond shaped orange background and black edge and a figure with a shovel as though digging. The upper right half if folded down sothe head looks to be missing.

Below that a black and white rectangle with the words Crioch / End (Irish and English).

Below those, two exact same signs, white with blue, pointing in opposite directions indicating the Euro Velo One route choices at the junction.

All before a sunny blue sky with fluffy clouds.

#Strava #bikeroute #design

de Maissoneuve bike path is now closed for two blocks for next week, due to the F1/Crescent Street festivities.

I've been avoiding Sherbrooke due to the poor road surface, but not any more.

It baffles me that posted bike routes like these aren’t prioritized for separated bike lanes. Even the Claire Saltonstall route (MA Bike Route 1) from Boston to Provincetown that was established in the 1970s is still just a series of tiny signs. #BikeTooter #BikeRoute mastodon.social/@rbellinger/11

"But there's not an intense green stripe down the center of it. There's not a change in the trees. It looks like another road. And I think that if it were this more of a festival atmosphere of less cars on it, more trees, you could tell you were on it and it was a cool place to be like a nice place like a linear park, I think people would show up." #BikeRoute #Greenways

Anybody know the state of the Northern Strand path under route 16? Is it passable now? Saw a picture from a few weeks ago and I hope it's like that or better for my bike ride to Malden. #BikeRoute

Finally I finished my travelwriting on this summer's #MuenchenVenezia #biketour: organictraveller.de/ecotravell
It's based on my posts here, but more elaborate, with links and all: notes on the #bikeroute, the people we met, the accommodation, the food. Enjoy!

Arrived in #Venice! The final leg of the #MuenchenVenezia #bikeroute muenchen-venezia.info/ from #Conegliano to #Venezia is flat, dry and hot. The usual #Veneto #bicycle route mix: leisurely alleys in the shade along the river, here and there separated communal #bikelanes of varying quality, shared traffic on not too highly frequented roads. The route is marked but often with small signs easy to be missed. We did not follow it strictly but cut off here and there on local bikeroutes.

Unfortunately the fun stops here. On the remaining #bikeroute to #prosecco land signs have been put up less frequently and only on short stretches active mobility is separated from passive. The landscape itself is interesting: the scarse flat shaped by the river #Piave, via industrial zones, along lakes. But don't be mistaken: it's hilly, with only short actually flat stretches. Day ended with good, partially #organic dinner in #Conegliano.

The 4rd leg of the #MuenchenVenezia #bikeroute muenchen-venezia.info/ starts nicely downhill on a paved separated bikeroute out of #Cortina. At Località Socol the route u-turns to the left into the gravel nuisance of a hiking trail.
It becomes a bicycle route worth the name after you leave the municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo on the former train bed to St. Vito di Cadore, and further on along the #Cadore valley. Comfortable cycling with great views.

While the gravel parts after #Bruneck and along lake Olang would be doable on a Dutch bike, the entire #MunichVenezia #bikeroute from #Toblach to #Cortina with its breathtaking views on the #UNESCO #worldheritage of the #Dolomites is a nuisance: gravel while the motorized traffic runs smoothly on the new-paved road within hearing range.

After a quiet night with a beautifully starry sky we took the nicer road down from #Terenzen to #Kiens. At least we met some e-bikers on the way before we set out on our 3rd leg of the #MünchenVenezia #bikeroute muenchen-venezia.info/ from Kienz to #Cortina d'Ampezzo. This part of the route through #Pustertal valley is hilly (approx. 1km difference in altitude) and passes through towns and villages. Most of the route is separated from motorized traffic but only partially paved.

2nd leg on the #MünchenVenezia #bikeroute muenchen-venezia.info/: Lazy start on the urban train from #Innsbruck to #Brennero, and from there: let loose and roll on on the track bed of the old train line. Easy. Cycling started around #Sterzing. Lots of cyclists on the way, but there is no minute without the constant noise of fossile fuelled passively moved obese cars on the #autostrada.

First leg on the #MünchenVenezia #bikeroute muenchen-venezia.info/ : Lazy start with a local train to #Lengries in the afternoon to circumvent heavy rain (and as vacation is limited). More pouring rain on the German side, with the bridge over the #Walchen as the only shelter on the route. As usual for Bavarian bikeroutes: straight paved road for cars, much up and down and lots of gravel on the bikeroute. Breathtaking views over the Walchen and the #Sylvensteinspeicher dam.

A frontier city back in the days of the Cold War, the city of #Hof, located at the #Saale #bicycle_route , allows a glimpse of the archetypal #West_German medium-sized town of the 1990ies. Here's the my #organic #travelguide to #Hof_Saale: organictraveller.de/organictra
