Komme gerade aus der Werkstatt der #schreinereiwittich von einem tollen Konzert des Duos #BirdsofAmerica (Dorothea Gädeke und Winfried Holzenkamp): Eingebettet in die Rezitation einer Kurzgeschichte von #AnnieProulx spielten und sangen die Beiden unter die Haut gehende Hillbilly-Songs.
Schöner Abend in einer interessanten (und fein nach Holz riechenden) Location - in Zukunft sollen dort noch weitere Kulturveranstaltungen stattfinden.

"Birds of the Tennessee woods" shows 6 birds: red-bellied woodpecker, American robin, blue jay, American redstart, magnolia warbler and northern cardinal, and 2 butterflies: the gulf fritillery and the pipe vine swallowtail.

More steady progress... and as so often happens, the #painting has taken on a life of its own and I have to follow it.

I had intended to paint a wash in all that white background space, but looking at it now, I'm not sure I need to. Apart from a couple of tiny details, it feels complete! What do you think?

I've made progress on my latest #painting of some of the #birds and butterflies we met while walking in the #Tennessee woods last month: red-bellied woodpecker, American robin, blue jay, American redstart, gulf fritillery, pipe vine swallowtail, magnolia warbler and northern cardinal.
Now to make an assault on with all those leaf shapes and attempt to bring it all together....

AT LAST! I've found time to do some #painting!
I've drafted a composition of some of the #birds we met in #Tennessee last month while walking in the woods. To start, here's a red-bellied #woodpecker and a #bluejay - we saw loads of both.

I'm using my husb's photos as reference.

We went to beautiful #ComptonVerney, #Warwickshire, today to see an #exhibition of #engravings by #JohnJamesAudubon, from his book: "The #BirdsOfAmerica".

I'd only seen two original Audubons before but today I saw 46!

Pic 1: a detail of the heads of the osprey and a fish it's just caught

Pic 2: a detail of an astonishing composition of Northern mockingbirds repelling a rattlesnake from their nest. 👈 This one was worth the price of admission alone.
