From text generation in academic settings to the ethical challenges of using artificial intelligence in the publishing industry: Professor Christoph Bläsi takes a comprehensive look at AI in book studies – and far beyond. Since 2019, he has been one of three spokespersons for the KI@JGU network at #MainzUniversity 👉 magazine.uni-mainz.de/even-wit

The first German cookbook authored by a woman was published in 1597: Entitled "Ein köstlich new Kochbuch", it was written by Anna Wecker and combined culinary instruction with medical advice, featuring endorsements from (male) medical experts 👇

With Margot Mellet (@mmellet) we have launched a call for propositions for the next issue of Studies in Book Culture (erudit.org/en/journals/memoire):

Publishing Collectives: Creations, practices, engagements

Short abstract:

How do the publishing practices of these collectives evolve, change, or stabilize as they come into contact with digital culture? How do collectives steer publishing in navigating between the determination of practices through digital tools and the free appropriation of those tools? Amidst the various reconfigurations of the ways of doing publishing that collectives put forward, can we identify the moment at which a specific chain of production becomes established as the new paradigm?

Additional information:
usherbrooke.ca/gnec/pj/call_fo

Deadline for the proposal in English or in French (short format, 300-word): September 1st, 2025.
Deadline for the completed papers (between 25,000 and 60,000 characters in length), if proposal accepted: March 1st, 2026.

If you have any questions, please write to me or react to this pouet!

Screaming into the void because now I have to figure out a whole new interface when my brain is struggling to process new information, thanks to certain billionaires; but any #bookstudies, #phd, #creativewriting folks around?
(Also just realised this has an edit function - another point against Twitter lol)

I’m just an editor, looking at a new platform, wondering if #aupresses folk, scholars in fields incl but not limited to #bookstudies, #printculture, #lgbtq studies/activism, African American studies, #americanstudies, #EnvironmentalStudies, #environmentalhistory, and other fields in which UMass Press publishes are… here somewhere?

#introduction Hi everyone! I’m a student of #bookhistory #bookstudies at WWU Münster. My focus at the moment is the intersection of Indigenous North American and EuroAmerican book history via 19th century newspapers. However, I’m a sucker for any and all things book history/book studies related. I am also an avid #TTRPG player and #boardgame geek. I’ve also managed to mix book studies in with my fascination of #realitytv. I’ll probably never figure out how to use this app but it’s fine.
