Local evening news (Channel 25) has a short segment on how slow the busses are, without making a distinction of the routes which have dedicated lanes, that are run of parked cars, or how those buses are being outfitted with cameras that will be able to issue tickets.

Three water towers a church and a communications tower, photographed from Buck Hill. The two water towers next to each other (3.94 mi) are at 20 Indian Lane, Canton MA. The large water tower on the horizon (7.7 mi) is at 45 Forest Rd, Stoughton MA. The church is the First United Methodist Church (6.26 mi), 103 Pleasant St, Stoughton MA. The communications tower (23.36 mi) is located at 585 Winthrop St, Taunton MA. This looks like it might be a transmitter tower but I cannot find any information about who broadcasts from here.
An interesting aside... If my house could be seen from Buck Hill, it would be in this photo. Perhaps some of the trees in my yard are visible.

The newly completed South Station Tower, 711 Atlantic Avenue, Boston MA, photographed from Buck Hill. This tower was already under construction when I started to bring my camera up on the hill, so I went through and found the earliest photo I could find. The recent photo was taken in Nov 2025 and the older photo is from Dec 2023. At that point, only about half of the tower was built and none of the glass panels were yet attached. The bright white building to the right is the The Federal Reserve Bank Building, 600 Atlantic Ave, Boston MA, which I featured in an earlier post.

Sunset and dusk yesterday afternoon, Nov 4th, from Buck Hill!
The change to standard time means early sunsets, and makes it a little bit easier for me to get up the hill to see them. Last night was one of absolute beauty. I did not see a single person the entire trek and had the hill completely to myself. The visibility was good and I watched the shadows lengthen. The nearby hills were awash in color and a near full moon had just risen in the east. The late day sunlight glowed off the Boston skyline. After sunset, I watched the dusk sky darken and then I made my way down. It always amazes me how quickly the darkness sets in, especially when dropping back below the tree line. My headlamp illuminated the fallen leaves on the ground as I hiked down, illuminating the forest floor in hues of red and orange.

At our #Boston precinct, 309 out of 1,617 registered voters cast ballots in today's election.
That's 19.1%.
That ABSOLUTELY SUCKS.
We are going to have a really, really hard time pulling our country out of the tailspin it's in if the majority of people can't be bothered to get off their asses and perform the most basic, straightforward duty of living in a democracy.

When we were processing early voting ballots sent to us from City Hall to count, the Poll Pad said one of the early voters was inactive and needed to complete an affirmation of continuous residency. This, of course, was impossible, since the voter wasn't there, just their ballot was.

Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (8.26 mi), 1545 Tremont St, Boston MA photographed from Buck Hill
There are two apartment buildings directly behind the church, to the left with the flag J VUE at the LMA (8.35 mi), 75 Saint Alphonsus Street, Boston MA and Charlesbank Cooperative (8.41 mi), 650 Huntington Ave, Boston MA.
Behind the apartment buildings to the left is the MIT Graduate Junction residence hall (9.83 mi), 299 Vassar St, Cambridge MA. This building was just finishing construction when I took the photo, as evidenced by the construction crane on the roof. MIT News announced the completion of the building about three weeks later. To the right is 1401 Boylston St (9 mi), Boston, MA which appears to be an office building.
In front of the church there are four light towers that can be seen that are part of White Stadium (6.64 mi), 450 Walnut Ave, Mattapan MA. The lights are aligned almost perfectly edge-on from the perspective of Buck Hill.
