Today is Brigid's Day, and I set up this altar for Her. #SaintBrigid #GoddessBrigid
#Imbolc #BrigidsDay #pagan #paganism #celtic

On the top shelf is black shrine box with yellow flowers draped over it. It frames a carving of the Three Brigids. Brigid of Poetry faces forward, hands raised, as though giving an oration. Brigid of Healing faces left, holding a baby. Brigid of Smithcraft is facing right and pounding on an anvil.
Two large lit candles are on either side of the box. on the shelf below are ceramic statues of 4 female minstrels playing music around a cauldron that is surrounded by rocks of various colors.

Talking all things #Brigid w/Prof. Catherine McKenna (Margaret Brooks Robinson Professor of Celtic Languages and Literatures, Harvard).

Was Brigit a true feminist icon? Was she even real? Or merely made up by a man to exploit the veneration of a 'pagan' goddess? All this & more!

Today I learned on the Irish Mythology Podcast that the Goddess/Saint #Brigid had two sisters also named Brigid. Was their mother an organisation obsessive who filed all her daughters under the same name? Anyway it's at linktr.ee/irishmythologypodcas Scroll back to February 2021. #brigidsday @irishmythology

Happy St Brigid's Day!
I've had a story brewing around #SaintBrigid for a long time now, think I'll begin full on development of it once my current projects are wrapped up! Until then, enjoy this sketch and have a great first day of Spring!

The Goddess Brigid stands behind her cauldron

'Stomp for Brigid. She Stomps for Us.' I made this a few years ago now, I don't even think this was made in lockdown fever, just a normal 'end of january' fever. Brigid came in the night to wake up the little seeds, fair play to her, calling an end to this most cursed january. Well done everyone, we made it. ❤️

An illustration in a naive style in gold, pink, red and blue on black and brown. A golden sun with an eye rises from the dark ground, leaving bright flowers in its wake. Two human forms on either side have their arms raised. Text says 'Stomp for Brigid. She Stomps for us'.
