Good news from #CAEH - The Mayor of St Thomas, Joe Preston, has withdrawn his support for the controversial letter to Ontario Premier Doug Ford that asked the province to use the #notwithstanding clause to override the courts and give cities extra powers to evict people from #encampments.

Mayor Preston decided to withdraw his support for the letter given the success his community has had without it. /2

I was so pleased to hear the city of Barrie backed down on its bylaw plan to ban giving food and water to the #homeless people on public property - local activists and the CAEH mobilized support and more than 27,000 emails were sent to the city in less than 24 hours
