Did you know? High CO2 levels in your workspace can make you feel sluggish, impair your focus, and lower productivity. Let’s talk about why keeping CO2 and PM (particulate matter) levels low is crucial for your brain and overall health. 🧠🌬️

When CO2 levels rise, your brain gets less oxygen. This can lead to headaches, fatigue, and poor decision-making. Keeping CO2 below 1000 ppm is key for a sharp mind and better performance at work! 💡 #AirQuality

But it’s not just about CO2. Particulate matter (PM) in the air can also impact your health. Fine particles can irritate your lungs, worsen allergies, and increase the risk of respiratory infections. Clean air = healthy lungs! 🫁✨

Here’s the thing: High CO2 levels often indicate poor ventilation. This creates an environment where airborne viruses can linger longer, increasing the risk of infection. Better ventilation = healthier air for everyone! 🤧➡️😌

Keeping CO2 and PM levels low not only boosts focus and lung health but also helps reduce the spread of airborne viruses. Clean air matters—for your brain, body, and community. 🌍✨

So, how can you lower CO2 and PM levels? Start by improving ventilation! Open windows, use fans, or invest in an air purifier with a HEPA filter. These simple steps can significantly improve your air quality. 💨✨

Wondering how to monitor your workspace air quality? That’s where co2.click comes in! Our sensors help you track CO2, PM, and more, empowering you to make your environment safer and healthier. 🌱 co2.click - Revolutionizing indoor air quality, one breath at a time! 💨

currently most measurements are in Germany. But let's change that.
The surprising finding so far, is that the HVAC-systems in various supermarkets in Germany have wildly different settings for drawing in fresh air.

My phone is a dumb phone with actual buttons and T9, so I can't use the app. But maybe you can?

in case you hadn't heard about it yet: there's an app, that will take your CO2-measurements and put them on a map for all to see.
indoorco2map.com

"Anyone who has a mobile phone and a supported mobile CO2-Monitor can participate in the data collection. Currently only the most widespread Device, the Aranet4 is supported but it is planned to support the Airvalent and Inkbird as soon as August."

paediatrician's office has terrible ventilation and no windows open.
Good thing they didn't want to see the kiddo and just gave me another prescription for a bottle of amoxicillin.

screenshot from today's readings of CO2 concentration.
the highest peak was at 10:50AM at the paediatrician's office with a reading of 1245ppm. Everywhere else was below 900ppm.

I've added pictures to the instructions.
If you don't want to sew you can really make this out of cardboard and tape, or just felt.

An Aranet4 inside a cloth cover is hanging from a belt loop. The belt loop is on some green linen pants. The pants are very creased because they are linen.

The cover has vertical green and cream colored stripes and its binding is a terracotta brown. This is the same Aranet4 but in another cloth cover. This time the cover is hanging from the strap of a handbag. The handbag has black and white horizontal stripes.
The cloth cover for the Aranet4 has the same terracotta brown binding as the other one but this time the outer fabric is light blue with brown, green, yellow, and white Xs on it.

For all of you lovelies that have a #CO2monitoring device: co2trackers.com/home
has a very easy way for you to tell others what the #IndoorAir was like in different places you went to. It even lets you give the different readings for sub-locations and asks you for the time of the reading. Go check it out.
And even if you don't have a CO2 monitor, you can see what other people's readings there were like.

@parkerd so we saw very few taxis and these were the most expensive travel option, like 5-10x as expensive and sometimes slower than public transit, we never ended up taking one 🤷🏻‍♂️ I remember reading about CO2 meters in taxis somewhere too, definitely in the spirit of #DavosSafe lol #co2monitoring

One myth dispelled by recent #travel to #Japan was what #CovidConscious US-ians heard about publicly displayed #CO2monitoring values (a proxy of #IAQ) at various venues. I recall some folks posting about this on ye olde TwatterX site, maybe in 2022.

It's possible there might have been some movie theaters or event centers where this was true, but I didn't encounter anything like this bumbling around Tokyo for a week. There was an "isolation tank" for smokers at the Pachinko parlor, however.

I didn't see any CO2 monitoring values displayed anywhere on my trip, including this busy Pachinko parlor. Staff were often masked, players much less so.

I LOVE my new #Aranet4 sticker!! It'll make explaining #CO2Monitoring so much easier.

People deserve to know if 2% or more of the air they breathe is someone else's exhale. Personally, I think the "ick factor" is like 2% of drinking water being someone else's spit.

Even if I have no power to change anything based on CO2 readings, at least I can know that my wearing a #mask is justified.

#CovidIsNotOver #MaskUp

Photo of an Aranet4 CO2 monitor with a border sticker on the front panel, framing the reading.

The monitor itself shows a CO2 reading of 778 ppm.

Along the left-hand side are labeled and color-coded benchmarks for CO2 ppm. Along the right-hand side are corresponding percentages of rebreathed air for each benchmark. The chart maps as follows:

Green zone:
- 420 ppm CO2 ... 0% rebreathed air
- 600 ppm ... 0.5%

Yellow zone:
- 800 ppm ... 1%

Red zone:
- 1200 ppm ... 2%
- 2000 ppm ... 4%
- 2800 ppm ... 6%
- 3600 ppm ... 8%

“A lot of people are very afraid of what they would find out” - an important point regarding #testing and I think it drives the psychology of schools, businesses, governments, and individuals who are burying their heads in the sand regarding #indoorairquality. Resistance to #co2monitoring, calculating #airchangesperhour, etc. because of what it might mean.

I hate it. I would rather know and act than live in delusional ignorance.

Al Gore’s climate watchdog spots rogue emissions | Science | AAAS

At U.N. meeting #COP28 #ClimateTrace nonprofit reveals gaps in countries’ greenhouse gas inventories using satellites and AI

"This week, at the United Nations’s annual climate change conference in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), countries are presenting those emissions inventories to show whether they have made progress on promised cuts.

Yet the figures are often misleading, according to Climate Trace, an independent watchdog that is tracking emissions based on new kinds of satellite data, together with artificial intelligence (AI). Its latest assessment, released today, shows that in 2021 Russia left out greenhouse gases equivalent to 1.5 billion tons of CO₂ and the United States missed 400 million tons, much of it driven by CO₂ emissions from oil and gas operations. Overall that year, among wealthy nations required to report to the U.N., Climate Trace estimates 3 billion tons of CO₂ equivalent gases went unreported—some 5% of total global emissions. […]

Backed by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, Climate Trace is a coalition of nonprofits and academics that made headlines 2 years ago with its first analysis of 72,000 of the world’s largest greenhouse gas sources. Its newest assessment looks at 352 million greenhouse gas sources. […]

For Gore, Climate Trace fulfills a dream he laid out in a 1998 speech at the California Science Center, when he called for a “digital Earth.” To monitor how humans are changing the planet, he called for the “automatic interpretation of imagery, the fusion of data from multiple sources, and intelligent agents that could find and link information.”
