I had lunch today at a tiny restaurant which was crowded the whole time I was there. CO2 never got above 700, and most of the time it stayed below 600.
I can't imagine that's coincidence. The owner of that restaurant must have put conscious effort into ensuring adequate ventilation.
We could do this everywhere. Indoor air quality could be good in every indoor space.
Instead, we're just letting people get sick over and over.

As a covid-aware person who sometimes must travel, I was recently pleasantly surprised to discover "Pure Wellness" hotel rooms.

Only available in limited places, it was marketed as "allergy-friendly" & cost an extra $20/night, which I was happy to pay since the room comes with an air purifier (though it was placed at the side of the room and not in a central location) so it saved me the trouble of packing my own.

Could you or your team use some help? As I make a transition back to regular work, I've got some flex time that I'm happy to VOLUNTEER. My initial thought is a solid 3 to 4 hours per week, but we can certainly discuss. Accepting applications now.

I'm based out of Boston, reliable to contribute from home remotely or meet somewhere in the metro area for on-site work. (Especially downtown, central neighborhoods, Cambridge/Somerville, and the south/eastern part of greater Boston.)

As a mission-driven person I'm excited to consider even basic/detailed/grunt labor that supports the team, so don't be shy with your proposal if it doesn't sound like a perfect fit with my background. Question(s)?

Today is the day we're getting our front (worst) crawlspace done here in Western North Carolina. A messy job, but the guys say they do it every day, and it won't take a full day to finish. Putting in a small vent fan and a large dehumidifier. Will see if removing humidity from this space helps with the newly finished basement, or if we'll need to duct the dehumid into that space as well.

Sigh. Why in the world do they build houses with these stupid spaces?

#IAQ #Humidity #Encapsulation

Looking right from the door into the crawl, one can see open vents in the block wall, the underside of the finished main level (with ducting, electrical and plumbing all visible) and a poor-quality vapor barrier over the dirt. The ground is about 4' from the floor joists at the front of the space, then drop down to 9+ at the wall into the basement.

An open black cutout leads to (yet another) crawlspace-y area under a concrete porch on the front of the house. Again: why?Looking to the left of the door, one can see the beginnings of a better vapor barrier being installed, covering the block walls, being overlapped, stapled and ultimately taped. Two guys are doing the work back in that corner with lights on, but they are hard to see.

Glad to do this in winter so I'm ready when spring kicks up the indoor humidity.

That dirt looks awful. And wet.

Here's an affordable air quality tool for meeting planners. CO₂ meters cost less than $100 and provide a useful proxy for air quality.

Wondering what people in the Northern Hemisphere are dealing with humidity-wise, indoors.

We heat, and don't humidify, and currently the humidity has dropped to 32% (and falling.) The bathroom sensor read an unbelievable 17% this morning.

I just can't bring myself to add humidity, but dang are eyes, nose, throat and skin pretty unhappy these days. Rising temps will change it this week, I imagine.

Curious what folks are comfortable with.

Went to a public meeting locally held by NCDHHS about new hospital beds being awarded here. Four groups (one is Mission/HCA, boo) then Novant, UNC and Advent. Advent probably the best fit, but just has to be anybody but Mission.

Sat in the back, was one of 2 masks with over 150 people. Had the Aranet and it hit 1453 before I bailed.

Psychosomatic, but have a headache and feel "weird," and damnit this is not happening.
