While delivering meal kits to a small village in the #Kherson Oblast, the #WCK team met a young child playing in a set of ruins.
"Here I have a kitchen—here is a room with a TV and a sofa," he shared. "When I grow up, I want to be a builder to fix up houses." #ChefsForUkraine #Ukraine
It’s common for people picking up #WCK food kits in Ukraine to come by bike—some ride for 30 minutes each way for the support.
The kits are heavy, full of items including flour, rice, oil, canned meat & veggies, and tea—enough to last families between deliveries.
“We used to have such a #beautiful #village—but now look at it. I lived in the #basement for 6 months. I went out only to #breathe fresh air & get #sunlight.”

Ukraine’s #Donetsk Oblast is a hot spot in the ongoing #Russian invasion. #WCK provides food kits & hot meals in two liberated cities here where resources are scarce—still, many residents are returning due to homesickness & lack of finances to live elsewhere.
As horrific attacks on residential neighborhoods in #Ukraine continue, WCK teams are working to ensure children still have moments of joy this holiday season. This week, we gave out coloring books & sweets (like cotton candy!) to kids celebrating St Nicholas Day.
This week, #Ukrainians celebrated St. #Nicholas Day marking the beginning of the winter #holiday #season. #WCK teams across the country held special #celebrations to give #kids as normal a holiday as possible, including gifts & #sweet treats with our normal #meals service!

The situation in the #Kupyansk region of #Ukraine remains incredibly difficult—constant shelling destroys buildings, #houses & #infrastructure. Still, residents remain in their homes just hoping the #nightmare will end. #WCK teams continue serving hot #meals each day.

While residents celebrate liberation, Kherson continues to feel deep impacts from occupation.
