Was watching some coverage of #CommandAndConquer series and naturally it got to the point where EA does what it does best and put in ads and make the game kinda terrible.

One part was interesting though where it talked about the original developers wanting to make a MMORTS, and I really wonder how that would work

So we are just short of a bio-engineered process to extract rare earths using weird plants and we will be in the original Command & Conquer game: with the brotherhood of Trump on one side and the European Défense Initiative on the other…

Finally made it through the Nod campaign of the first Command & Conquer! 💥

I had to exploit several errors of the enemy AI to get anywhere in the final missions.

(And to make things worse, the last mission 13c has a bug that can corrupt save games.)

To be honest: in the end, it felt more like a chore.

But I am still glad I pulled through and saw the final cutscene. 🙂

But now my thirst for RTS games is quenched for the time being. 😅

I've been going crazy with OpenRA-OW this past week or so, it has *mostly* just been polish and balancing, and reworking things! I love being able to find new solutions for old hacky workarounds 👀 (mostly thanks to OpenRA devs adding new features every now and then)

I had fun making Prism Towers work. My brother borrowed these sprites from Combined Arms for something else, I'm using sound effects from MechWarrior Online

Ooof.

Yesterday I *almost* gave up on #CommandAndConquer.

Nod mission 11b ("Ezekiel's Wheel (Mosambiq)") was borderline impossible.

No base at start, managing two different groups on opposite sites of the map, constant airstrikes targeting the few fragile units available. 😯

There was no way for me to solve this the intended way. After many crazy experiments, I somehow found a different way though, luckily.

I think this was the hardest mission of the whole game, fingers crossed. 🤞

One wrong move (facing an enemy unit with the wrong kind of unit order) or plain bad luck can quickly result into all units being wiped out.

Okay so, Tempest Rising is really amazing. While the game is absolutely its own thing, they really nailed the Command and Conquer inspiration, and it feels amazing.

I first started playing Command and Conquer with my dad and brothers back in like 1995. As the years went on, we played through the entire series together. There's so many good memories.

I can't wait to show this to them.
