You know you can tax the rich right now, right? Just shift where you spend your money.

Support your local coffee shop instead of a big chain. Shop at farmers' markets. Eat at local restaurants. Buy from mom-and-pop stores. Choose independent brands over corporate giants.

Yes, it might cost a little more, but you're redirecting money away from corporations that thrive on low wages and putting it straight into your community—where it can grow, support jobs, and build something better.

You are effectively taxing the rich.

What if... land, property, public spending benefited communities, supported fair jobs and shared wealth with many not just a few?

Just Transition Wakefield has been exploring that with Unite Community Leeds & Wakefield and Climate Action Leeds and shared the story of "Wealth In Our Hands", an event building a coalition for Community Wealth Building...

We need an economy that respects land and community—an economy that thinks ahead. Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs) are one way forward, blending conservation with economic resilience.

What do you think? How can we integrate ecology with economy?

It's great to see the Scottish Government taking a strong lead on developing a community wealth building approach.

If done right this could really transform local communities across Scotland and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to contribute.

Will be interesting to watch how this progresses.

There's a real groundswell of support for the creation of a Community Wealth Fund in the .

Would ensure that local people and communities have the chance to build the social infrastructure needed.

Need to ensure that communities are given certainty of funding and able to plan for the long-term.

In an society, and are concentrated in the hands of a few. This often leaves the majority of people feeling left out and disenfranchised.

is created when everyone in a has access to the resources they need to thrive. It is based on the idea that we are all connected, and that what benefits one member of the community benefits all members of the community.

It is the beginning of the month! Are you a PoC too far behind on your rent to the slavemaster, and getting evicted illegally?

Maybe watch this[1] #Free full-length documentary on how the settlers who colonized the North American continent segregated and impoverished through something called a ¨racial covenant¨ written right onto the deeds. Then start cussing out your landlords because their ancestors manufactured urban poverty.

Doc has a great intro to the parent idea of racial covenants, which are called ¨restrictive covenants¨ and involve ¨redlining¨ as ways the early whites settled towns, dividing the PoCs to live in the ¨undesirable¨ neighborhoods and all the white settlers to the favorable ones.

Images on this post EXPLICITLY state the wishes of the white settlers to push the colored folks into the littlest boxes in the sickest parts of the towns.

Ecosteader corporate papers explicitly incorporate anti-racist ideals into our urban planning and #CommunityWealth ideals; to correctly acknowledge the correct things, we cannot build our land acknowledgements on incorrect and short-sighted colonial-worded deeds perpetuated by racism that has been PROVEN BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT.

REAL ESTATE BROKERAGES.

Brokers are the top realty agents whose models rent out a bunch of desks and ¨rights¨ to use signs and legal papers (colonial deed system) and the database of properties for sale to aspiring Brokers (Realtors).

Brokerages are, at the most simple definition, pyramid schemes. For another glimpse into the illegal eviction machine that only the people can stop, video [2].

Back online last night, after the two day outage.

Would have been back online much sooner, but indie´s local ISP crashed in the middle of her updating the CSR and SSL cert reqs on the remote webserver (our webserver we pay for, which had recently fallen victim to another OOM crash, due to Linode expecting her, their paying customer, to optimize VMs around dockerized processes she is not using on this thing she is already overpaying for).

Yes . . . all of this in the infradrama attacking the little webmin maintaining ecosteader. Is perhaps some kind of strange reverse ¨Moore´s Law¨ on why this would happen?

Nobody can be expert in all things, and especially in techlandia -- if you do not exercise the muscles frequently enough, is easy to forget. The hops are supposed to be short and simple. Patience that youngins in the tech world are just youngins. Is okay for expired patience on things already patiently explained!

The elderly exotic @simonthecat is still healthy and strong, proud to still be vocal before the roosters. The diabetic Dine´ is resting more peacefully and doing well.

The beneficiaries of the non-colonial #CommunityWealth created by Ecosteader... those beneficiaries still are NARF and the comrades decentering whiteness. Kill the Queen (that hideous name placed by colonizers on both sides of Turtle Island!) ... mute/block/delete that Queen, save the Indian.

Let us start talking about how the colonized machines can really help the poor people ... then enact those things without any accountings of colonial dollars.

One quarter of one percent! That's all we asked. Nobody else could do as much for so little.

If any of my former colleagues in #SiliconValley Techlandia circles are capable of bypassing that white supremacist GoFundMe garbage, and want to contribute directly, we already have a bank account! Umpqua Bank, Hillsboro office.

We'll let you stay anonymous donor if you wish. Alternatively, if your BIPoC-friendly group, shop, or business is helping build #communitywealth and wants to partner with a legit hub of revolution, we'll do what we can to help the good people escape that toxic facebook vibe.

P.S. NO we are not accepting any offers from facebook, its employees, or benefactors. The mechanism that is valuing it between 618 and 710 billion colonist dollars of "Market Cap" ... That mechanism needs to be entirely shut down.

Heard on the radio yesterday that our marches and protests are working. Uh... they are sorta* working? No, not really. The average street person hearing that $15 million of PPB's (Portland Police Bureau) funds are being diverted[1] may be initially hopeful, but would be ultimately hasty, to claim victory.

The PPB budget is $245 million dollars ($15 million is barely 6 percent); in other words, it is basically NOTHING in the grand scheme of the Evil Realtors' and Landlords' nefarious plots to keep the #CommunityWealth concentrated in their own hands, and in the pockets of their associates**.

The biz model of advertising trendy hipster flats and rowhomes, pushing contracts, "renters insurance" (HA!), colonist cash deposits, and other BULLSHIT on all the MLS websites and rental portals IS NOT A JOB the police should be protecting.

*"The PPB budget — about $245 million — is part of the whole city budget of $5.6 billion."

Where the hell is the city of Portland getting $5.6 billion dollars?

Yes, Black Lives Matter; however, we cannot overlook the reality that MOST of the budget's dollars are going into "policing for" (serving eviction notices) and protecting the fat landlords and Realtors in their little bubbles. Round up the homeless folk, put fences around them to keep them out of the brochures. Make the rental contracts longer and more complex to nickel and dime the workers. Turn them into wage slaves.

The only constant in the last 528 years of colonization is the exponential increase of greed of the colonists.

Colonist cash has always been, and will always be the root of oppression.

**The HARSH REALITY that still needs to be addressed is that the Realtors' and Landlords' constant demands for commissions and rent money prove that they ARE THE OPPRESSORS. NOTHING they can do changes their role or can make them into "good guys" (no, not even offering "free rent" in exchange for work).

How to build #CommunityWealth ?

✅ Do not abide by patriarchy.

✅ Find and network with people who care.

✅ Acknowledge stolen lands and #MMIW. [1]

✅ Listen to and include marginalized voices when deciding build or demolish plans.

✅ Involve locally-indigenous people in ongoing ecological assessments, and be willing to pay them with whatever currency they request.

✅ Source and hire locally.

✅ Share good ideas globally.

✅ Expect nothing.[2]

Yeah, I'm not sure if there's a load "max capacity" limit from moving the power lines underground or not. Will be interesting to follow and see how this turns out.

I dug a little more and found out that this project might be tangential to the Thunder Valley CDC [2] initiatives to create #CommunityWealth, which I've posted about before. [3] It has a really nice, "designed to be duplicated" model for these kinds of things.
