A retailer's co-operative (even if not formally incorporated) can make bulk orders together, decreasing shipping-related costs. (Unincorporated associations rely on individual contracts, instead of the pile of contracts structuring a co-op.) Either way, a group of independent retailers can create their own middle-man service this way; making larger international purchases without paying individual tariffs, or monopolies.
