Moooove out the way! Cows cause chaos at Neath train station
Cows on the commute
Passengers waiting for trains were stunned to see around a dozen cattle calmly strolling along the platform, apparently in no hurry to catch the next service.
Your TikTok video shows one of the cows standing firm as staff and passengers tried to gently usher the animals away. Others looked on in disbelief — and amusement — as the cows refused to budge.
Artist Rusty Gladash, who was caught up in the incident, wrote on Facebook:
“This morning at Neath station in South Wales we were held up by cows on the line and kept behind the glass doors as a small herd of shiny black cows thundered past. Apparently they escaped from a nearby field. It was quite surreal!”
The moment the cows first entered the platform at Neath station, sparking disruption to trains between Cardiff and Swansea.
Delays and disruption
The bovine blockade forced Great Western Railway to suspend services through Neath for several hours. A spokesperson posted on X:
“Due to animals on the railway at Neath all lines are blocked. Train services between Cardiff Central and Swansea may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 14:30.”
Travellers reported lengthy delays, with some journeys thrown completely off course.
Staff vs. stubborn cattle
Station staff were filmed trying to round up the animals and guide them back to safety. The cows, however, seemed determined to enjoy their day out, wandering up and down the platform as bemused passengers filmed the spectacle.
The incident quickly went viral, with clips shared widely on TikTok and X.

A lighter side to travel chaos
While the delays were frustrating for many, the surreal sight of cows on the platform brought a dose of humour to an otherwise ordinary Sunday commute.
It’s not the first time animals have disrupted South Wales rail services — but few incidents have been quite as photogenic as this one.
